There ...See moreThe cockfighting expert from Kawachi, Tajibee (Takuzo Kawatani), and the carpenter from Edo, Kitahachi (Mitsuo Senda), are aboard a ship heading to the Kibitsu Shrine when a storm causes the ship to wreck and wash ashore near Beppu. There they find Sakamoto Ryoma, who was also on the ship and is being attacked by a group of masked samurai. Tajibee and Kitahachi come to Ryoma's aid, and as a result, Ryoma entrusts them with a secret letter addressed to Saigo Takamori (Tatsuo Umemiya) of Satsuma. However, a spy for the shogunate, Chizou (Keizo Kanie), who overheard the conversation, pursues them to steal the letter. On their journey, the pair's wallet and the letter are stolen by a female pickpocket named Okoma (Yuri Kimura). When they finally reach Satsuma and deliver the letter, they discover that it was a fake and they were only being used to deceive the enemy. See less
