Desperate to break away and start his own journey, Greg books a tour playing piano across the US. With the hope of convincing his grandmother to accept in-home care while he is gone, Greg brings Clara, a colleague from the nursing facility where he works, to Doris' 80th birthday party. At the party, Greg's panic sets in. Instead of telling Doris that Clara is in fact her soon to be caretaker, he pretends that they're dating. Doris finds out the truth, and what follows is a terse yet poignant conversation leading the two to address their shared grief.
