Swearing to become strangers, they part ways at a crossroads, promising never to recognize each other again. Fast forward 35 years to the 3rd year of Kansei, February. Komakichi, now living under the name Tokubei Itodoya (Katsuo Hashitani), a merchant in Edo's Fukagawa, leads a peaceful life with his much younger wife Omon (Mayumi Wakamura). One day, he encounters Matsuzo (Jun Kunimura). Over drinks and hidden truths, they reminisce about old times until Matsuzo reveals he's been asked to kill the man known as Tokubei Itodoya. See less
