His innovative ideas used in the construction of bridges still delight engineers from all over the world. He helped design the Prudential, the second tallest building in Europe in the 1920s. In Maurzyce near Lowicz there is the world's oldest welded bridge designed by him. Stefan Bryla was a member of the Sejm of the Second Polish Republic, and during World War II, dean of the secret Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology.
