Peter joins a research team from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to participate in a survey to monitor sturgeon populations. These ancient fish were once abundant in the wild, but are now threatened by climate change and human activity. Meanwhile, Dr. Rae journeys to the Illinois River to help biologists fight back against a wave of invasive species jeopardizing the delicate balance of the lake ecosystem. Later, Dr. Rae discovers the tiny but mighty Piping Plovers and learns about their remarkable migration habits and how their behavior impacts the health of the Great Lakes. See less
