FCB —————————————————— FCB was shot on my Alexa Mini with some very old Zeiss Superspeeds with light black promist on the front (Couldnt get my filtration of choice - black satin fx). This setup gave us a wonderfully soft texture, which really fit the period setting of the film. • We shot several sequences at the soundstage, mostly surrealistic metaphorical spaces for the debate between our main characters. The majority of it had us on the cinejib (read: hot dog) on tracks. It was what was available, and definitely not a setup that was changed quickly. However, considering that we had a large featured cast, it gave us the ability to run proper developing masters for all the scenes without having to focus too much on converage, which definitely helped the storytelling and scene pacing. It was also the only way we could cover the lion dance stuff up high! Its a beautiful thing though, to be able to move from a closeup 2.5m in the air to a wide on the ground. Fui muchas veces de pequeña en plan vacaciones familiares, y mi primer viaje con Vasallos dentro del país fue a Mérida 😌 un recuerdo inolvidable de ese viaje fue que estando en el bus que nos llevaba a la presentación nos dijeron “por favor firmen estos discos que son para un grupo de seguidores del grupo” y yo como: whatttt!!! 😱 o sea un autógrafo??? Jajaja eso me impactó, de verdad me sentí famosa 🤭😂 Para el tiempo de estas fotos también eran viajes con Vasallos pero para asistir a casa de María Teresa (la primera representante del grupo quien es una mujer excepcional y adorada por todos) que realiza todos los eneros “La Paradura del Niño” ::La Paradura del Niño es una tradición andina que se celebra en Venezuela, en los estados Mérida, Táchira y Trujillo, y con mayor relevancia en los pueblos del páramo y los Pueblos del Sur de Mérida. La Paradura del Niño se trata de una fiesta tradicional que se celebra por fieles católicos, que consiste en rezar un rosario al Niño Jesús para celebrar que ya puede pararse, y es muy diversa su fiesta según el devoto que la organiza, que va desde lo más sencillo con el rezo del rosario en familia hasta las grandes fiestas con la representación viviente del nacimiento.:: www.ivenezuela.travel La Visita de Vasallos era muy especial para ellos y además de la paradura siempre hacíamos encuentros en los que todas las agrupaciones participaban con sus cantos y su música y yo por supuesto bailaba 😏 (estos viajes los hacían los músicos de Vasallos pero yo me coleaba 😛) Estos virajes fueron los maximo! “Dualities” aka “the illusion is real.” Behind the shot: there are a few moments in Dance on Budapest when we selectively match-cut between a day and a night version of the same shot. We were able to do this by placing a camera in the same position for the both the day and night performances. The dancers were so spot on with their choreography that it made matching the two shots effortless. If you really study the images they aren’t perfect, but shooting in 4K gave us some wiggle room to adjust the frames as needed. That plus the magic of editing and matching motion helped hide any imperfections between the two. I dropped a new blog post for the time code to Crystallize by Eliminate featuring Leah Culver on the NightMode record label on the Eddy Sound website earlier today. It features the embedded video (in case you missed it), a write up about the mindset and process used to approach this project (including an interview with the songs vocalist), and a robust photo gallery of images taken of the looks within the completed piece. This truss structure was one of the more innovative designs weve used to date which made for some incredible fixture positions. Time coding light shows to musical tracks has become a staple in the Eddy Sound warehouse a.k.a., the Lighting Lab while working on COVID-19 Passion Projects. Forever ago @williamenta crewed me up with @acme_lighting , he gave me this warning... “Rico is terrible with the walkie, he uses a lot of hand signals, try to keep up.” . . Richard Sands, is an older gentleman with super human strength (Normally you need 4 guys to pick up a 6500watt generator, or 2 guys and one Rico). Equal to his strength is his lighting skills. Probably one of the best in the industry. He used to have a terrible temper back in the day, but has since mellowed, I used to love watching his outbursts on set. . . Confession + Livestream Alert (tonight @ 8 pm): I did not miss Burning Man or DJing until I perused the archives from last year aboard the Oribombi. I was flattered the purple origami’ed zeppelin wanted me to help soundtrack burn night; but was unknowingly battling a serious knee injury, coming off an intense playa romance, and was just really fucking tired from camping exactly on the esplanade at a booming sound camp with sometimes undesirable music playing dusk til dawn. The Oribombi’s CDJs were mismatched, one was janky af, and a speaker had blown out.
