Love and Logic Institute was founded in 1977 by two professionals that were concerned with the struggles of teachers and parents dealing with challenging behaviors from the children in their lives. Jim Fay was an educator and Foster Cline, M.D. was a child psychiatrist. After much research, and their own personal experiences, they developed the Love and Logic approach.

Love and Logic is a resource that provides parents and educators with powerful tools that help them raise strong, independent, and motivated children. You will spend less time on discipline when you implement these tools in your preschool classroom.

WHAT THEY FOUND

Through their research Fay and Cline found that children do best when they have parents and educators in their lives that provide the following.

  • Love, compassion, and empathy
  • Consistent limits and accountability
  • The ability to learn through small mistakes
  • The ability to solve their own problems

The Love and Logic approach is based on these principles and through all of their webinars you will learn how to put these principles into practice.

WEBINARS

While Love and Logic webinars are not the most affordable around, they are packed with value. Love and Logic uses research-based information to guide the development of their trainings. Through humor and storytelling, you will learn about lasting solutions that you can implement in your preschool classroom right away. You can even earn graduate level credits through some of their webinars. Here is a list of the products that will earn you up to 3 graduate level credits.

  • How Do I get These Kids to Behave? webinar
  • Love and Logic for the Classroom and School online (9 essential skills)
  • Love and Logic Trauma Informed Care online
  • Success With Strong-Willed, Stubborn, or Downright Defiant Kids webinar
  • Home and School Strategies for Creating Respectful, Responsible Kids webinar

The Love and Logic Blog

The Love and Logic blog is a collection of articles on key topics in the field of education and educating parents. Although you cannot gain professional development hours through the blog, it is a great source of free information that will further your knowledge. This wealth of information can also serve as a resource for you when encountering difficult situations in the classroom. Here are some of the recent topics covered in the Love and Logic blog.

  • Selflessness
  • Divorce
  • Bullying
  • Poor grades
  • Classroom management

The Love and Logic Institute was built on the deep concern for our youth. Jim Fay and Foster Cline, M.D., were two professionals who recognized the great need for a real solution to the challenging behavior seen by parents and educators. It is thanks to their experiences and their research that this invaluable resource is available for parents and teachers alike. Love and Logic is a great way to get professional development hours in as a preschool teacher.
