Two women and a man are standing in front of a deli on the street corner. Parked on the corner is a white van with a construction worker's safety vest on the dashboard. On the cross street a delivery man on a moped speeds out of the frame. In the distance we see a clear sky of purple and orange as the sun is just about to rise.

In Manhattan, SoHo for sure. In Brooklyn, it’s not a particular neighborhood but that whole stretch from the Brooklyn Bridge to Grand Army Plaza is really nice.

A night photo of the view from the Manhattan Bridge. We are back on on the pedestrian path of the Manhattan Bridge. Looking across the water of the East River, we can see One World Trade Center lit up in the center-right of the photo. Other, less-impressive buildings surround it, forming a unique portion of the New York City skyline. On the left side of the photo, we can make out the angular lights of the Brooklyn Bridge.

A photograph of a winter solstice sunset as seen from my bedroom window. We are looking out of my window towards a snow-covered garden. There is a red brick walkway in front of the garden, lined with two streetlamps which are lit. Just beyond the walkway there are some evergreen trees on the left side of the photo, and some barren regular trees on the right side of the photo. Beyond them is a cloudy sunset sky. On the horizon we can see pinkish tones from the setting sun just below the clouds. Above the grayish clouds, the sky still looks a bit blue. Framing either side of the photo are terraces and windows from the other buildings of my apartment complex. They are red brick buildings, though we cannot make out much detail. The photo has some curved distortion on the sides because it was taken with a GoPro in photo mode.

A photograph of the Washington Square Park Arch and the Washington Square Park Christmas Tree. We are in the middle of the street facing south, looking at the Washington Square Park Arch. In the center of the arch is the Christmas Tree. It's kind of a skinny tree and lit up with yellowish lights that do not change color, but it's still a nice tree. The sun has just set and if we look past the tree we can see the tail-end of an NYPD police car, and looking even further we make out the upper part of One World Trade Center. In the foreground of the photo, a woman in a blue jacket and black pants walks across the street in the crosswalk. Various other people are positioned around the base of the Arch: from left to right, a young man with a bicycle checks his phone, a group of young people in winter clothing pose and take photos beneath the tree, and a woman is using her phone to take pictures of the sculptural details of the Arch.

Christmas in New York.

We are outside at a rooftop bar during the last days of November. It's cold outside, but that's not going to stop tourists and New Yorkers from getting drunk on a rooftop. The rooftop is packed, but we can only see about five or six people sitting and drinking on the bottom edge of the photo. They are bundled up in winter hats and coats, most notably a young woman in the center in a white winter coat and a thick white winter hat. Next to her is a man in glasses who, inexplicably, is not wearing a winter hat, and neither are the other two men in the photo. Due to overexposure in the highlights of the photo, we can't clearly make out any of their faces. Behind them is a fence, and on the fence are large light-up snowflakes, the bars chosen winter decorations. Rising above them is the Empire State Building in the distance, which dominates the center of the photo. It seems to glow against a cloudy night sky. There are other buildings around it, but they look small in comparison because they are even further in the distance.

A photograph of autumn leaves with the sun rising behind them. We are in The Bronx, NYC, but we could be anywhere. We see a few red autumn leaves leaves dangling from tree branches. In the distance and out of focus due to shallow depth-of-field, we can see the rising sun on the horizon. The sun has turned the horizon a beautiful golden color, but the sky above it is blue. The light from the sun shines through the leaves, letting us clearly see details on them such as veins and spots.

Autumn is still pretty.
