It's day 4 on Vasco Duarte's podcast Scrum Master Toolbox and today we talk about my definition of success for a Scrum Master. And it's all about finding proof that the teams mindset and approach to work has changed and not just the team blindly following a process someone set for them. But before we dive into that topic, I also share once of the ways I've experimented with to make Retrospectives more Neurodivergent friendly. As someone who is Neurodivergent (ND) and works with a lot of ND folks I've been recently very carefully examining the long held wisdoms of the agile space, traditional and progressive management, etc., through the lens of "Is it friendly to ND people?". It is surprising how much of conventionally held wisdom, as well as the more progressive ways of working views, don't work for us ND folks and often makes it harder for us to give our best. I was talking the other day with my dear friend and #agilecoach Caterina Palmiotto about #Scrum. Scrum is appreciated for being a very balanced framework, with a great guiding structure, but also not too prescriptive. But over the years we have heard many cries from the #software industry: "Scrum hasn't covered this, Scrum hasn't covered that". Companies don't transform through frameworks; they evolve through people who understand both technology and human dynamics. In 2024, my journey as a Senior Agile Coach at C&A Brasil crystallized this principle. Transitioning from technical project management to leading agile transformation in a complex retail environment demanded more than methodological expertise—it required a holistic approach to organizational change. Key milestones that defined my year: - Earned Kanban Product Professional certification from Kanban University, deepening my understanding of product-oriented development; - Led agile transformation initiatives across multiple teams at C&A Brasil, focusing on reducing lead times and enhancing cross-team communication; - Applied Flight Levels and KMM frameworks to optimize organizational workflows in a dynamic retail technology ecosystem. Most resonant insights this year: 1. Kanban Product Professional Certification Learning never stops, even with a decade of experience. From the early days of the Agile Manifesto to today’s complex, scaled frameworks, Agile has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of teams and organizations worldwide. 🔎𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐞'𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲: 2001: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨: It all started with 17 thought leaders coming together to create the Agile Manifesto, a set of values and principles designed to enhance software development. This was a revolutionary shift from traditional, rigid project management methods to a more flexible, collaborative approach. 2004: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐗𝐏: Scrum and Extreme Programming (XP) gained popularity as effective frameworks for implementing Agile.
