Dracula

I love Dracula. The theme. I honestly don't care much for the vampire or the movies or books or whatever else. I mean the cool colours, the ones my website uses. Dracula (theme) is my favourite and it's so so pretty.

12 colours from the Dracula theme arranged side by side.

I first discovered it in 2023, when I was in class and bored out of my mind. I wanted a change from the default Monokai in my editor. I don't remember exactly how I discovered Dracula, but it was the third one I tried after some others I now forget. Immediately I fell in love with it, though I did change a few things specifically for my preferencess—namely variable and symbol colour—because I wasn't satisfied with the defaults.

When I first selected the theme I had no idea how much it'd consume so many of my apps and programs in the coming years lmao. I use Dracula as the theme for basically any software that allows me to customize the themes and colours. I override the default CSS for websites I visit often and change their colours to also be Dracula. I wouldn't say it's an obsession, I just really like the colours and how they look. It's a dark background with bright colours that pop and draw your eyes, it has an incredibly nice purple colour and the blues and greens are so beautifully bright.

I found a website shortly after using the theme and falling down the rabbit hole. It's the official site for all things Dracula and it has over 400 preset themes for so many popular (and less popular) customizable sites and tools. This is where I've furthered my love for the theme, and found various new ways to apply it to the things I enjoy.

I apply the theme to my own website because of my love for it. I don't use all the colours, namely the pale yellow, green, and red. I thought the colours were too harsh, and I prefer the cooler colours on my site more. I also just didn't really know how to apply them. I've been thinking about ways to use the green and red, red for broken links maybe, but have no clue for green yet. Maybe one day in the future I'll update my blog theme, but I am truly happy with how it looks currently.

There's been a couple comments that have crossed my path on the internet in the past. I've seen things about how other developers switch themes often, to keep things fresh. I used to think I was the same then I discovered Dracula and I got locked in. I don't think I would be happy if I ever switched to another theme, and I'm disappointed when I don't have the option to switch to (or create) a Dracula theme in some programs or editors.

Dracula is my beloved. I hope by writing this post I've converted more people to my side (like how if I was a vampire, I'd bite you and also turn you into a vampire hahaha). I hope this post shows my obvious love for a simple dozen colours, and I really hope even more people appreciate it too.
