Sisters and a giveaway!

It's almost unexplainable in words how much a  sister  can mean to you.
I hope that each and every one of you has such a  true friend  in a sister.
I know I sure do!
I have  3 of them and each one is precious...but today I'm going to just chat a little about
my  younger sister, Denise.
Yep, she's my younger sister, and then I have 2 more that are younger still.
I have already introduced her here to you in blogland before, but I'm just going to tell you
a little about her passion ...
(besides her beautiful family and grand~daughter).

Yesterday we spent the latter part of the morning  together and right through until just about supper time....
and it was good...chatting, and catching up,
and snackin'.
:)
We had baby cucumbers with a scrumptious dip

and then some more cucumbers
with herb n' garlic cream cheese
 on light rye
 toasted to perfection.
Talk about yumminess!

And then a delicious little bowl of  Rolo ice cream.
It's okay...summer will be gone before we know it,
and our excuses for eating so much ice cream will be gone.
So we're milking it for all its worth!
(giggles)

A n y w a y s...
this beautiful  sister of mine
  generously offered to have a
giveaway
right here on my blog!!
Denise is   super-talented and creative and so generous
and very kind
and her passion is creating  jewelry.

I'll let her describe this piece in
"jewelry language"  lol

This sterling silver chain necklace is adorned with

a triple bead drop. I have incorporated a turquoise Swarovski round pearl at the top of the

drop, a Caribbean blue opal roundelle Swarovski crystal in the centre of the drop and a turquoise

Swarovski pearl teardrop bead at the base of the drop. The beads are connected to each

other by a sterling silver chain using a wire wrap technique.

The sterling silver chain fastens with a sterling silver lobster claw clasped that is

embellished with individual turquoise Swarovski pearls. The necklace measures

approximately 42.5cm (16.75 inches) in length. The dropped beads measure

approximately 60mm (2 3/8 inches) in length.

Embellish!!

Good morning friends!!!

Today I'd love to introduce you to my sister,

Denise

from

I have asked her if I could interview her
and
she so graciously agreed!

Good morning my dear sister & friend!!

First of all,
could you tell us a little about yourself?

Hello Deborah. Let me begin by saying 'Thank you' for taking an interest in my work and for posting this interview on your lovely blog. I am a wife, mother, new grandmother (and sister) and I am also a Registered Nurse working in a Chemotherapy Unit.

When did you begin to create and design your own jewelry?

As long as I can remember, I have had an interest in crafting in one form or another. As a child I had always been attracted to shiny, coloured stones that I would find along the road. My love of natural stones started back then and has increased since then. My interest in designing and creating handcrafted jewelry began about 12 years ago. For the first couple of years I was making jewelry just for myself, family and friends.

What kind of jewelry do you design?

I design jewelry pieces that are one of a kind. I am most likely to design pieces that are feminine, beautiful and in styles that will last the test of time however, as an artist I am continually evolving and honing my skills and I never know what will be next for me until I start to visualize a piece in my mind's eye. I have always preferred working with sterling silver as opposed to the cheaper base metals because of it's quality, strength and durability and am most likely to create jewelry pieces that reflect my love of sterling silver.

Would you agree that jewelry completes an outfit?

I would definitely agree that jewelry not only completes an outfit but it has the ability to totally transform an outfit. I believe that our choice of embellishment is what defines our personal style.

How did you choose the name of your business?

I wanted to choose a name for my business that reflected what I sell and that also made a statement about why a prospective buyer would want to purchase my jewelry products. My jewelry is made using various types of beads and they are used to embellish or enhance one's appearance. That is how the name BeadedEmbellishments was conceived.

Where do you do most of your creating?

A large part of the design creativity happens in my mind. Once I have envisioned the piece, I search for the beads and other components that will give life to the creations. Occasionally, the beads themselves will provide the inspirations for my designs. In my home, I get the best light at my dining room table so that is where most of the 'magic' happens!

What inspires you to design a particular piece?

I can gain inspiration from just about anything. For example I can get inspiration from a beautiful picture, from  nature or even from colour combinations that appeal to me. The catalyst for all of my inspirations comes from whatever I find to be beautiful.

I know that you recently did  a piece for a sweet friend who was going through chemo treatment..can you share with us about it, and what it was that you made her?

The pieces that I made were actually for her two daughters. I made each of them a bracelet with teal colored crystals and sterling silver beads and a message bead that each of the girls chose for themselves. The teal color was representative of ovarian cancer which was the type of cancer their mother was battling.

Do you display and sell your jewels anywhere other than Etsy?

I have been selling my jewelry at my local Fall Artisan's Show for many years and am currently looking into expanding by also doing a Spring venue.

Do you have a favourite piece that you've created?

I have had many pieces that have been favourites and truly I try to create only the pieces that I absolutely love and would wear myself.

As a "Thank you" to you and your readers I am offering your readers a Coupon
for a discount of 10% off the purchase price of any pair of earrings
from now until Mar 15/11 in my Etsy shop
BeadedEmbellishments. Your readers can access this discount by entering the coupon code DEBORAH at the appropriate place in the checkout process.
