Good morning friends!!!
Today I'd love to introduce you to my sister,
Denise
from
I have asked her if I could interview her
and
she so graciously agreed!
Good morning my dear sister & friend!!
First of all,
could you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello Deborah. Let me begin by saying 'Thank you' for taking an interest in my work and for posting this interview on your lovely blog. I am a wife, mother, new grandmother (and sister) and I am also a Registered Nurse working in a Chemotherapy Unit.
When did you begin to create and design your own jewelry?
As long as I can remember, I have had an interest in crafting in one form or another. As a child I had always been attracted to shiny, coloured stones that I would find along the road. My love of natural stones started back then and has increased since then. My interest in designing and creating handcrafted jewelry began about 12 years ago. For the first couple of years I was making jewelry just for myself, family and friends.
What kind of jewelry do you design?
I design jewelry pieces that are one of a kind. I am most likely to design pieces that are feminine, beautiful and in styles that will last the test of time however, as an artist I am continually evolving and honing my skills and I never know what will be next for me until I start to visualize a piece in my mind's eye. I have always preferred working with sterling silver as opposed to the cheaper base metals because of it's quality, strength and durability and am most likely to create jewelry pieces that reflect my love of sterling silver.
Would you agree that jewelry completes an outfit?
I would definitely agree that jewelry not only completes an outfit but it has the ability to totally transform an outfit. I believe that our choice of embellishment is what defines our personal style.
How did you choose the name of your business?
I wanted to choose a name for my business that reflected what I sell and that also made a statement about why a prospective buyer would want to purchase my jewelry products. My jewelry is made using various types of beads and they are used to embellish or enhance one's appearance. That is how the name BeadedEmbellishments was conceived.
Where do you do most of your creating?
A large part of the design creativity happens in my mind. Once I have envisioned the piece, I search for the beads and other components that will give life to the creations. Occasionally, the beads themselves will provide the inspirations for my designs. In my home, I get the best light at my dining room table so that is where most of the 'magic' happens!
What inspires you to design a particular piece?
I can gain inspiration from just about anything. For example I can get inspiration from a beautiful picture, from nature or even from colour combinations that appeal to me. The catalyst for all of my inspirations comes from whatever I find to be beautiful.
I know that you recently did a piece for a sweet friend who was going through chemo treatment..can you share with us about it, and what it was that you made her?
The pieces that I made were actually for her two daughters. I made each of them a bracelet with teal colored crystals and sterling silver beads and a message bead that each of the girls chose for themselves. The teal color was representative of ovarian cancer which was the type of cancer their mother was battling.
Do you display and sell your jewels anywhere other than Etsy?
I have been selling my jewelry at my local Fall Artisan's Show for many years and am currently looking into expanding by also doing a Spring venue.
Do you have a favourite piece that you've created?
I have had many pieces that have been favourites and truly I try to create only the pieces that I absolutely love and would wear myself.

Teeeeheeee...Chloe is just sweet as a French peach..and those peaches out in the Southwest of France are the best!!! Dearest, SOOOOOO LOVELY to see you and your sister. You are both beauties, and to design and make jewelry, oh, another passion of mine. I remember when my momma was dying of ovarian cancer, the only thing that would bring a sparkle to her eyes was either my AUNT CAMILLE who has a wit to make anyone laugh, and then JEWELRY!!!!! I remember coming home from visiting another auntie who gave me a pair of gorgeous gold earrrings. I said, "Mama, look what auntie gave me!" She just sparkled. Lovely, lovely work your sister does, and may you both have joy in creating a world of love around you in whatever you do. Blessings to you, Anita
