Gatherings and Blooms

Hello sweeties!!!

Dropping in to say
 hello
 and
 goodbye ...
(for a few days)

I'm on my way tomorrow morning
with my lovely daughter
to see my son.
I'll be gone for 4 glorious days!!!
I can't wait!
The travelling part with my daughter is so fun
and one-on-one girlie time together,
the re-uniting,
the laughter,
fun times & being silly,
dining together,
and just
"gathering".

My oldest son, Adam
called me yesterday and said,
Mom I'm taking you to Ikea on Saturday,
then over the few days we're there we'll go to Starbucks
and sit together outisde on cafe chairs
and sip and visit...
that means chai lattes!!

He also said, "what would you like for meals Mom".
He thinks of everything,
and is so kind and considerate.
He always surprises me
with more love outpoured,
and showing how much he cares...
even in the little things,
that mean so much to me.

We're planning to stop at the Vaughn Mills Mall
on the way...
and browse :)
Lots of fun just being with my sweet girl ...

Hoping you all have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo

Shabby Mailbox...no seriously!

In March of this year I was admiring
a beautiful mailbox
at
my sweet friend,
the lovely

and I commented on how lovely her finds were.
She so sweetly and generously wrote me back
and offered to look for a

vintage mailbox

for me,
and even ship it to me...this is one sweet girl! :)

But that same day, as I was in our local Value Village
I spotted an older styled wooden mailbox
which was in great shape,
and
very solidly made...
Ive shown a photo of it above.
The heart was nice...
because I love hearts,
but it just wasn't the look I wanted..paint wise I mean,
but it had the bones...
and bones is what matters for a makeover! :)

Sooooooooo
I decided to spray paint it
w h i t e
and
then rubbed some darker wood stain on it
and then removed the excess stain.
It still needed something...
which I found at
The Old Tin Shed
while I was in Haliburton
at the cottage.
I was looking for
 rusty,
 and with a bit of a country f l a i r
to it.

Last evening hubby took it to his work area
and found two screws to put in the little holes.
I actually think the screws are cute as a button on it! :)
Today just before supper I heard him drilling it in the brick outside..
ohhh yes,
that was a
"happy sound"
and Im a happy girl! :)

When I said
"Shabby Mailbox..no seriously"
I meant it!
Our previous mailbox was hanging by one screw
so many times...
it just about drove me bonkers!
Now I can look at our mailbox
and
:)

And I have this sneeking suspicion
that our mailman
will be
delightfully surprised :)

Thanks to my sweet friend Kindra for inspiring me
to
finally "do something" about my shabby mailbox :)
xoxo

Now, if I may say,
its Shabby
in
a good way!

Hope you are all having a great day....
its sunny and gorgeous here xo

With all my heart...Deborah xoxo
