Good morning friends!
I hope you are all enjoying your summer...
or whatever season you are experiencing right now ;)
This summer a dream is being realized at my home.
Right in our back yard as a matter of fact!
Something beautiful is coming forth from these
humble pallet boards.
Our sweet Willow thinks so too.
;)
Apparently there are 1001 things one can make with pallet boards,
but you know, my hubby doesn't blog,
so he really doesn't know all the things people are creating with these boards.
It just came to him one day that he was going to make my long-awaited
shabby shed from these boards.
He's been creating his ice shacks from them,
using the boards as his foundation,
and also making them into ski-like pieces for the bottoms
for easier moving,
and then making most of the frames of his shacks from white steel doors.
He loves it,
and men and women have stopped on the street
when they've seen him making the ice shacks and ordered one for themselves
for winter fishing here in the Northern parts of Ontario.
We're not too far north, but we do get cold enough winters,
and my hubby loves to ice-fish!
When summer comes around here....we enjoy it.
For me, it never seems to last long enough.
I love the warmth, the sunlight, the greens, the blooms
and just basking in the friendlier temperatures.
This dream-come-true little shed
of mine is this summer's project.
In between my hubby's working hours,
he works away at it.
It's touching to us to see how
everything just seems to be coming together for this little shed,
and we are thankful to God for His caring heart for us and for every little detail
.
Like for these nuts & bolts and things...
my hubby sold an ice shack last season,
and he remembered that one of the buyers handed him a brown bag with
some of these in them...
That man's kindness
and our God's loving heart
were all a part
of the foundation of my shabby shed .
Perfect...and free!
As you can see,
rust isn't an issue here...
it just makes it even sweeter for this project.
All new materials here?
Nope! Using mostly what we have on hand.
Price is kept low and it's actually sweeter this way to us;)
I've helped, but in little ways...
like holding things while he sets them in place...
but this baby has been his
and I'm so proud of him and his little creation here. ;)
Dog-gone it! The whole family is interested in this!
My sweet Milo...he's our little clown!
He's keeping an eye on the situation...lol
You'd love this little guy (although he's not our smallest scottie)..
he prances like a horse and his personality would win your heart....
and we love him so!
I always say...if I was a dog..he'd be my choice of a boyfriend!
Lol
Hubby does the arm work..
while I'm letting my imagination run wild
with what I'll do to this shabby chic shed
on the inside and on the outside
;)
I have even gone outside
in the evening,
just to catch a glimpse...
We're further along now...
and he's been using older pallet boards
for the sides of my shed.
I adore the look of barnboard...always have..
and he knows it!
He's been tearing apart old pallets
and cutting some to make slimmer boards in places,
and nailing them to the pallet board frames.
This is what the outside is looking like now!
I love it!
Oh my goodness!!!
I can hardly wait to show you the door!
I am NOT kidding!
It is seriously gorgeous!
Old, white and chippy
and tons of character....
My hubby saw it at his family's camp,
out there in the woods where the guys go to relax
in their mancave and hunt...lol
It belonged to his brother and it was just laying there,
waiting...
to be snatched up by my hubby's
new eye for the shabby chic.
This glorious glass door knob?
Yet again..another blessing.
His brother-in-laws dear father left this treasure
behind in his home,
and my hubby was asked to come and pick out anything he'd like.
We've had this saved for about a year,
and now...it has found it's home.
Everything in its perfect timing.
Hubby works on it day by day,
and as weather allows.
The grass is growing inside..lol
until he puts the floor down.
It has its personal touches,
which we love.
I am loving to see it come together...
hope you do too!
I'll keep you posted! (pun intended..lol )
Hugs!
All my heart,
