Sounds of Taiwan is an ecomusical project created in collaboration with Taiwanese composer Lim Giong. By inviting different musical guests to sample Lim Giong’s field recordings of Taiwan, this album seeks to represent an honest and emotional portrait of Taiwan’s people, religion, and nature through music.

This album contains the Sounds of Taiwan:

...The Sound of Lim Giong’s family, their coffee cups clinking as they discuss the soft mundanities of life

...The Sound of thousands of believers following sea-goddess Mazu across the Xiluo Bridge - a magnificent display of faith

...The Sound of a chair rocking as sunlight filters through the windows of a Japanese sugar factory

...The Sound of children laughing as they chase each other through the Wugayan Bamboo Forest tunnel

...The Sound of grass whipping through the sugar cane field as memories of love slip in and out of focus

...The Sound of crickets performing a summer night symphony in the perfect acoustics of a public toilet

…The sound of the Yuguang Island Ferry rumbling deeply into an uncertain future
