Bulgarian Post issued stamps dedicated to Sofia Metropolitan. This is in the form of se-tenant strip.

The Sofia Metropolitanis the rapid transit network servicing the Bulgarian capital city Sofia. It began operation on January 28, 1998. Currently, the Sofia Metro consists of two interconnected lines, serving 27 stations, with a total route length of 31 kilometers, being the 34th largest European metro system behind Amsterdam Metro and before Budapest metro. The Metro links the highly populated districts of Lyulin–Mladost (Line 1 – Red) and Nadezhda–Lozenetz (Line 2 – Blue).

120th anniversary of Wuhan University

China Post issued a stamp commemorating the 120th anniversary of Wuhan University (1893-2013) Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province, on Nov 29. The stamp is valued at 1.2 yuan ($0.2). The Wuhan University Library is featured in the design, which embodies the energy, vitality and spirit of the century- old school.

During the celebration faculty, students, and guests from around the world gathered for the grand event.

Notable guests at the celebration included: Nobel Prize in Literature winner Jean Marie Gustave Le Clezio, Nobel Prize in Economics winner Christopher A. Pissarides, Vice President of Delft University of Technology Peter Wieringa, leaders from collaborative universities, thousands of alumni from home and abroad, the daughter of WHU previous president Wang Shijie – Professor Wang Qiuhua, son of Li Da – Professor Li Tianxin, members of the press, members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), senior professors in humanities and social sciences, along with WHU leaders, faculty and student representatives.

100 Years of Banking Excellence in Malaysia

Malaysia Post issued a set of stamps on 23rd November 2013, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Malaysia RHB Banking Group. The RHB Banking Group was celebrating its 100th year anniversary on 15 July 2013.

On 15 July 1913, The Kwong Yik Banking Corporation Limited was incorporated. It was Malaya’s first local bank and was founded by a group of prominent members of the Chinese community led by Wong Loke Yew. In 1966, Development and Commercial Bank Berhad (DCB) was established by then Finance Minister, Tun Sir Henry HS Lee, and it grew to be the fifth largest bank in Malaysia. He also credited the group’s success today to the dedication and hard work of its Senior Management team and employees.

Stamp on Parangalitsa Reserve, Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Post has issued a stamp sheet dedicated to the Parangalitsa Reserve in Bulgaria.

The Parangalitsa Reserve, which is located on the southwest slope of the Rila Mountains, covers an area of 1,509 hectares. In March, 1977, the reserve was added to the list of biospheres recognized by UNESCO under the auspices of its "People and Biospheres" program. The name of the reserve comes from the Greek word "parangalos", which means "forbidden".

Parangalitsa is home to one of the oldest spruce forests in Europe. The trees there are on average over 200 years old. The forests offer favorable conditions for the growth of more than 290 species of larger flora and a wide range of fauna, many of which are listed in Bulgaria's Red Book of endangered and protected species

100 years of an ambitious project, the liner Titanic

The Bulgarian Post  issued a  souvenir sheet  on 10 April 2012  to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the legendary RMS Titanic.

RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, UK to New York City, US. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1,514 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history.

Museum of the Danube Fishing in the town of Tutrakan

The Bulgaria Post has issued a set of stamps on 29 June 2011, dedicated to the Bulgarian Danube Museum.

The Ethnographic Museum "Danube fishing and boat-building" is located in town of Tutrakan. It was opened in 1974 and is the only one along the Danube River.

The Museum preserves the rich material and spiritual culture, social structure and lifestyle of the Bulgarians from the Danube-situated fishing villages. There are exhibited original artifacts, tools and objects which were used in the past and modern instruments and equipment which is used nowadays. There can also be seen cross and ritual bread for Nikulden, photos and graphics explaining the way fishing is accomplished in the villages along the lower Danube. There is other exposition related to the boat-building which has been developed in the region since the Roman period.

The newest stamp issuing  country – South Sudan

On July 9 2011,South Sudan becomes the youngest state in the world. The UN Security Council recommended to General Assembly on July 13, 2011 that the Republic of South Sudan join the UN, bringing the new nation one step closer to becoming the body’s 193rd member state.

South Sudan, officially known as The Republic of South Sudan, is a country in East Africa. Its capital and largest city is Juba, located in the southern state of Central Equatoria. The landlocked country is bordered by Ethiopia to the east; Kenya to the southeast; Uganda to the south; the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the southwest; the Central African Republic to the west; and the Sudan to the north. South Sudan includes the vast swamp region of the Sudd formed by the White Nile, locally called the Bahr al Jabal.

What is now South Sudan was part of the British and Egyptian condominium of Anglo-Egyptian Sudan and became part of the Republic of the Sudan when independence was achieved in 1956. Following the First Sudanese Civil War, the Southern Sudan Autonomous Region was formed in 1972 and lasted until 1983. A second Sudanese civil war soon developed and ended with the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005. Later that year, southern autonomy was restored when an Autonomous Government of Southern Sudan was formed. South Sudan became an independent state on 9 July 2011 at midnight (00:00) local time following a referendum held in January 2011 in which nearly 99% of voters opted for independence from the rest of Sudan.

New Currency in South Sudan

July 13, 2011 (JUBA) -  The Republic of South Sudan will officially introduce its new currency early next week.

The new currency, which are in denominations of one, five, 10, 25, 50 and 100 will be effective as of 18 July. They will be distributed amongst the population in exchange for Sudanese Pounds be given out to members of the public in exchange for Sudanese Pounds (SDG) at designated distribution centres. It is expected that the exchange rate will be 1:1.

The notes printed by the UK company, De la Ru will have a portrait of John Garang watermark.

New stamps for South Sudan

JUBA, 13 July 2011 – New postage stamps have been launched for the new Republic of South Sudan.

According to Brigadier General (Rtd) Elijah Biar Kuol, the Director General for Administration and Finance in the Ministry of Telecommunications and Postal Services, 100,000 copies of the stamps have already been distributed to all the states of South Sudan.

He said the focus will be in the rural areas where more than 80 percent of the citizens of the Republic of South Sudan live.
