Date of Issue : 3 September 2013

Here are new stamps featuring Mushrooms, issued by Croatia Post on 3 September 2013.

MUSHROOMS - PARASOL MUSHROOM

Parasol mushroom is a generally known kind of mushroom which grows in many parts of the world. It is edible and of excellent quality but only its cap can be used since its stem is fibrous and tough.

MUSHROOMS - WHITE TRUFFLE, BLACK TRUFFLE

Both truffles fall in the category of gourmet delicacies. They are prepared in various ways but are best raw, because thus they keep their specific flavour in dishes, what makes them the most expensive mushrooms in the world.

MUSHROOMS - ROYAL BOLETE

For its beautiful carmine red colour of its cap Royal Bolete is a veritable king among the family of Boletacae. This excellent edible mushroom is in Croatia no rarity while it is a mushroom event when it is found in north parts of Europe.

image

Date of Issue : 25 January 2013

Hi !

Here is a wonderful issue of Flowers from  Romania Posta with Flowers’ Clock. The issue is very unique and a collectible item for flower lovers !!

Each stamp shows flower and its blooming time on the clock featured on the stamp. As we know that all flowers do not bloom at the same time !! What a great idea…. I just love this issue and would like to have in my collection !!

Have you ever taken into consideration that flowers do not all blossom at the same time? That there is a specific hour when each one reveals itself to the light, nature and peoples? With an interesting thematic approach, this year, Romfilatelia is offering a two-part postage stamps issue, Flowers' Clock. This issue, achieved in an original illustrative manner, combines the image of a flower with an exhibit from the Nicolae Simache Clock Museum in Ploiesti.

Stamps on Bees

taiwan

Date of issue: 12 July 2012

Bees play an important role in pollinating flowering plants. Their disappearance could lead to food shortages. In order to raise understanding about bees and pay more attention to the conservation of ecology, Chunghwa Post will issue a souvenir sheet which comprises six stamps, each featuring a bee species of Taiwan . The designs follow:

1. Phimenes flavopictus (NT$5): This predatory wasp has yellow markings on its black body, giving it coloring that resembles that of a yellow and black striped tiger. Females build their mud nests in places such as tree trunks and cliff-face crevices. It is also called the "tiger-striped potter wasp" in Chinese.

2. Apis mellifera (NT$10): Commonly known as the western honey bee, most of them have a yellowish brown chest. The species' worker bees have specialized pollen baskets, which can be found on the tibia of their hind legs.

3. Xanthopimpla pedator (NT$5): The range of this parasitic wasp was once used to control she-oak pests.

4. Xylocopa tranquebarorum (NT$10): This pollinator has almost dark black body. Its wings have a purple, copper sheen to them. Females build their nests by boring holes into dead bamboo.

5. Vespa ducalis (NT$5): This stinging wasp has two golden yellow rings on its abdomen which are its most salient feature. Its last four abdominal segments are black.

6. Apis cerana (NT$10): Commonly known as the eastern honey bee, this pollinator lives in the wild mostly. Its appearance greatly resembles the western honey bee. It has alternating yellow and black stripes on its abdomen.
