Here's 2 tracks of lofi ambient drone stuff. While I made these tracks I kept thinking about my Great grandmother and the house she used to live in. I'm not sure why? Or maybe I am, but I find it hard to put into words.
I've never met her before, she died when I was 4. My grandmother will sometimes tell me about her. When I was younger, I was lucky enough to go to India and visit the home she stayed at, I had stayed there too sometimes. It was very peaceful, and it was a privilege to absorb the feeling and maybe some of her essence in her home. She stayed in a village called Avda Falia in Gujarat.
These tracks began by messing about with a recorder (as in the instrument that looks like a flute) and recording it into a digital recorder. I then edited the recording a bit in Ableton and played the whole thing back into a reverb pedal, my DJ mixer (using some of the effects), and a saturation rack. I think I had about 40 mins worth of recordings which I edited down as much as possible. I then put some of those recordings into an app on an iPad and recorded a few more tracks. All of it was then put together in Ableton.
I’ve revisited this EP at least ten times since it came out, and the experience just keeps getting better. The percussive elements are for me the biggest hit of these tracks: the sudden change of mood in the last minutes of the two first track just blows me away too! Guillaume
