How to Get an Instagram Transcript in 3 Simple Steps
No software setup is required. Start with the Reel link and finish with searchable text and optional timed captions.
01
Paste the Instagram link
Open a public Reel in Instagram, copy its individual link, and paste the URL into the tool. ReelToText accepts one instagram.com/reel/... link at a time, so you always know exactly which video is being processed.
02
Generate the transcript
Select Generate Transcript. ReelToText retrieves the Reel audio on the server and sends it to an AI speech recognition model. Keep this page open while the Instagram video transcript is created.
03
Copy or download the result
Review the full transcript in your browser. Copy the plain text for notes and writing, download a TXT file, or export SRT and VTT files with timestamps for a caption workflow.
Why You Need an Instagram Transcript
Spoken content becomes easier to search, study, edit, and reuse once it is available as text.
Repurpose a Reel into written content
Creators can turn an Instagram Reel transcript into a draft for a blog post, newsletter, social caption, or content brief. Starting with the spoken words makes it easier to preserve the original idea while adapting it for a new format.
Study an educational Reel
A searchable Instagram video transcript is faster to scan than repeatedly scrubbing through a clip. Students and researchers can locate names, claims, instructions, and useful quotes, then return to the original Reel for context.
Analyze hooks and messaging
Marketers can use the transcript to examine a public Reel's opening hook, argument, pacing, and call to action. Text makes patterns easier to compare, while the original video remains the source of truth.
A Practical Free Instagram Transcript Generator
The first version stays deliberately focused: one public Reel, clear output options, and no account wall.
AI transcription built for spoken audio
ReelToText uses a modern speech recognition model to convert the Reel audio into readable text. Results are strongest when speech is clear and background music or overlapping voices are limited.
A focused, one-link workflow
There is no batch queue to configure and no collection import. Paste one public Instagram Reel, process it, and work with the result before moving on to the next link.
TXT, SRT, and VTT exports
Copy the transcript directly or download plain text. Timed SRT and WebVTT exports are also generated for subtitle editors, video tools, and caption review.
Automatic language detection
The transcription model detects the spoken language automatically and returns the transcript in that language. Results vary with pronunciation, recording quality, noise, and speaker overlap.
The Easier Way to Get an Instagram Transcript
Screenshot OCR reads visible text, not speech. Manual typing works, but it turns every Reel into a stop-and-start editing task.

Frequently Asked Questions About Instagram Transcripts
Clear answers about supported links, daily use, exports, privacy, and transcript quality.
How do I get a transcript of an Instagram Reel?
Copy the individual public Reel link, paste it into ReelToText, and select Generate Transcript. When processing finishes, the full text appears on the page with options to copy it or download TXT, SRT, and VTT files.
Is this Instagram transcript generator really free?
Yes. Guests can create one successful Instagram Reel transcript per IP address each day at no cost. Sign in for five free transcripts per account each day. No credit card is required.
Can I get a transcript of any Instagram video?
ReelToText works with individual public Instagram Reel URLs using the /reel/ format. The first version stays focused on Reels, so private posts, /reels/ collection pages, Stories, feed video URLs, and batch lists are outside the current workflow.
How long does it take to generate an Instagram transcript?
Processing time depends on the Reel length, Instagram availability, and the transcription service. Short Reels often finish quickly, but some requests can take longer. Keep the page open until the result or an error message appears.
What languages does ReelToText support?
The speech recognition model automatically detects many commonly spoken languages and transcribes in the detected language. Quality depends on the language, accent, clarity, background noise, and number of speakers.
Can I download my Instagram Reel transcript?
Yes. You can copy the transcript in your browser, download it as a TXT file, or export timed SRT and WebVTT caption files for compatible video editing and subtitle tools.
Do I need an account to use ReelToText?
No. You can generate one free transcript per IP address each day without an account. Signing in increases the free allowance to five successful transcripts per account each day.
How accurate is the Instagram Reel transcription?
Accuracy varies by source. Clear speech with little background noise usually produces the best result. Music, overlapping speakers, strong noise, unusual names, and low-quality recordings can reduce accuracy, so review important text against the original Reel.
Can I transcribe Instagram Stories?
Instagram Story support is planned for a future version. For now, ReelToText accepts individual public Reel links. If the Story is yours, publishing it as a public Reel will create a supported link.
Is there a limit on Instagram transcripts?
Yes. Guests receive one successful transcript per IP address per UTC day, and signed-in members receive five per account. Invalid links and failed processing attempts do not use the allowance because the reservation is released when transcription fails.
Does ReelToText store videos, audio, or transcripts?
ReelToText does not save the original Instagram video. Audio is downloaded into server memory only for the active request and is not written to persistent application storage. The returned transcript stays in your browser unless you copy or download it.
Can I use ReelToText for TikTok or YouTube videos?
Instagram Reels are our focus right now. TikTok and YouTube URLs are not accepted yet, which lets us keep improving the reliability of the Instagram transcription workflow first.
