United Bank for Africa (UBA), Africa’s Global Bank, has launched the UBA Braille Account Opening Form, a groundbreaking initiative in the Nigerian and African market. This unique offering is designed specifically to cater to the financial needs of the visually impaired, addressing the disadvantage this special section of society has faced until now.
With the introduction of the UBA Braille Account Opening Form, UBA demonstrates its unwavering commitment to providing an excellent user experience for all customers, regardless of their individual abilities or disabilities.
The launch event for the UBA Braille Account Opening Form took place at the UBA Head Office in Lagos, attended by key executives of the bank, notable guests, and students from the Pacelli School of the Blind. The event witnessed the endorsement of the initiative by Cobhams Asuquo, a Multi-Award-Winning Nigerian Musician, Producer, and Songwriter.
Asuquo praised the Braille account as an innovative initiative that showcases UBA as a bank with a compassionate approach that addresses the needs of the blind and disabled. He expressed his gratitude to UBA for promoting inclusivity and enabling greater access to opportunities and options for the visually impaired community.
Ugo Nwaghodoh, UBA’s Executive Director of Finance and Risk Management, emphasized the bank’s commitment to ensuring the comfort and inclusion of physically challenged individuals in their lifelong relationship with the financial industry. He highlighted the importance of the Braille Account Opening form in providing visually impaired customers with the same opportunities available to all UBA customers.
The UBA Braille Account Opening Form, developed in collaboration with the Anglo-Nigerian Welfare Association for the Blind, is the first of its kind in the industry. It caters specifically to the needs of visually impaired individuals, empowering them to independently initiate and complete the account opening process and facilitating their seamless integration into the financial system.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), who also attended the event, commended UBA for conceiving this idea and expressed his delight at the initiative’s expansion to the 19 African countries where UBA operates.
