One of the most successful Italian drum & bass acts from the last decade, Was A Be turns to a new page of his artistic journey, retaining his signature sound and taking it to a wider spectrum of styles.

Highly precise and technically proficient, Was A Be delves deep into the darker shades of techno and electro with two original tracks. The two tracks also get the remix treatment by Reveries mainstays Noroi and F L V X X X.

“Hallucination” is a dark and seductive techno track that moves sinuously between sophisticated sound design and echoes of rave that certainly come from Was A Be’s expertise within the realm of drum & bass. “#10”, co-produced with Kiu D, goes on the opposite direction. It’s an electro track particularly reminiscent of the old school b-boy era from the 80’s, but with modern sound design and aesthetics. On the remixes, Noroi takes “Hallucination” down an even darker path, exposing its foundation through thunderous jersey club thumps. F L V X X X instead goes for a hyper speed ghetto blasting attitude, dabbling with Dance Mania aesthetics and updating it with modern uk-inspired sonics.

Once again, a track for every type of DJ and vibe out there. Whether you’re playing at a dimly lit elegant bar early in the night or in front of a packed ecstatic crowd during peak time, there’s something for everyone: the way Reveries imagines and configures its ideal of contemporary clubbing.

I love all Hessle Audio releases because they're just plain fun. This sort of thing hearkens back to 1991 in a good way with classic "rave" breakbeat elements with a modern touch of course. I think people have new labels for this music but it sounds like classic rave breakbeats to me and this is far from a bad thing. jonarmst
