TRAVERSE is part of a series of improvised and generative music made with a modular synthesizer system. The pieces on this album are built around pre-recorded samples of single flute notes from a one-octave phrygian scale. The samples are played in forward and reverse direction at different speeds, and are (randomly) cycled, looped and time-stretched. The resulting sounds are fed through a resonator, several lo-fi delay loops and transformed by granular synthesis to create the specific sonic textures and timbres.
Each piece is recorded in one take without any further overdubs.
