Paul W. Rankin (b. 1984, Australia) is a writer, artist, and programmer.

Working in large-scale photography and video projection, and influenced by the vocabulary of cinema, his artistic practice explores themes of intersubjectivity, phenomenology and time. Following the line of inquiry from theorists such as Martin Heidegger and Ludwig Wittgenstein, his work responds to the nature of the existential and constructed self.

In his screenwriting work he has written feature screenplays on spec and on assignment for the US and Australian markets.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Queensland in 2013. He is currently completing his Master of Visual Arts at the Queensland College of Art and Design.

He maintains several open source programs for writers, including the Emacs screenwriting program Fountain Mode.
