5 TIPS FOR A CALM BIRTH
5 TIPS FOR A CALM BIRTH • 1. Movement- change your position every 5 contractions or every 30 minutes if you have an epidural • 2. Relax your body from the crown of your head, to the bottom of your feet • 3. Focus on your breathing, inhaling through the nose for 4 counts and exhaling out through the mouth for 8 counts • 4. Squeeze a comb at the peak of your contraction. This will help your mind to focus on the sensations in your palm and not in your uterus • 5. Be open, lean forward and trust gravity. Postpartum Perineal Recovery Basket for Expecting Moms
Yes, this may be a littler overkill, but as a pelvic floor PT, I really care about my pelvic floor healing 😂 Additionally, your hospital may provide some of this, but it all depends where you are located! My hospital provides me with some of this — not all — plus I just prefer some of my own items. Totally up to your preference! If you’re planning a home birth then you will definitely need all of this and likely more. For those having a cesarean delivery, you may not need as many of the perineal cooling items, but if you pushed at all, you might still benefit. And yes, that is my toddler stealing the peri bottle. She loves to use it as a fan #toddlermom Promise it’s clean 🤷♀️ www.drmaehughes.com
