625K views · 3.3K reactions | Dollar tree pumpkin | By Western Grace home Decor | Hey guys it's Mandy from Western Grace. And I thought I would do a little video to show you the paint technique on this adorable little pumpkin that I made. Um I did one live the other night and there was lots and lots of questions. So this is just a glass jar from the Dollar Tree. And I love the way it looks. Looks like a cute little pumpkin. And the first coat you're going to put black and I prefer to use a chalk paint So I used Dixie Belle chalk paint in the color caviar. And you're going to want to put a couple coats on there and let it dry really good. And now I'm using some burnt orange from Buy Americana. And that just gives it the orange color. Which will make it look kind of rusty. And now I'm taking some home decor wax and putting that over it because that like tones the orange down. And makes it look vintage. Which also helps to make it look rusty which was the end result that I was going for so while the home decor wax is still wet you want to add your cinnamon you can make it look rusty without adding cinnamon I just like this little touch because I love the way it smells and I love it gives a little extra texture to the surface So I'm just going to make sure I add that all over the place. And then I'm going to take some Mod Podge. And you can use any kind of Mod Podge. I use a a flat finish Mod Podge. Um and then you are just going to cover that over all of the cinnamon to seal it in. You don't want to do it too heavy handed because you don't want it to be real thick because it takes a quite a while for it to dry but just sealing all that in And then you're going to let it dry really good. And now I'm going to take some Tim Holtz ink in the color Rusty Hinge. I love this ink. Um you can get it at Hobby Lobby, Amazon, any of the art places. Um and Rusty Hinge just looks really cool. And it's it's the Tim Holtz distress oxide is actually what it's called. And so it kind of ox sedates which also makes the finish look you know real old and vintage and rusty. So then I added some also some Tim Holtz in the color I believe it was vintage photo. And now I just took a wine cork for my stem and some Spanish moss. And then this is a little pick from Hobby Lobby that I pulled apart that has some little acorns and leaves on there. And I'm just arranging those however. I however you want to. Um and then I curl ends with my paintbrush because I think it gives it an extra little touch. Now I'm going to take some ribbon and I got that ribbon at Hobby Lobby also. It's a window pane ribbon. And then I took some raffet and tied a little bow. Tied the two of them together. Oh I used the raffia to tie the tie the little bow out of the ribbon and then added the raffia to the top. The raffia bow. And I'm just trimming that up. And you have this adorable little piece of fall decor made out of a Dollar Tree glass. And just some paint. And I hope you guys enjoy. And I hope you have a great day. Thanks for watching.

Rustic Winter Sign | Rustic Winter Sign | By Creating Through Chaos | Hey everybody it's Janice with Creating To Chaos. I'm going to start this project off with this sign that I got at a thrift store. I'm going to start by peeling off the price tag and sanding off some of this dark lettering that's on here. Once I have that all sanded I'm just going to wipe it down and then I am going to paint it with some white chalk paint. So I just did a couple of coats of the white chalk paint. I'm doing this so that none of that black lettering comes through the scrapbook paper. I'm going to put on this at a later point. So I'm just going to give this a good coat of this white paint. And then let that fully dry. Once it's fully dry I'm going to take this scrapbook paper. I believe I got this at Joanne's. I can't remember for sure. But I think it's from Joanne's. I'm going to put a good heavy coat of Mod Podge on my sign to hold my scrapbook paper. The sign wasn't exactly even. It was kind of like up and down so I wanted to make sure I put enough of the Mod Podge on there to hold really really well. So I'm just going to get those edges and in between there really well so that it doesn't peel up at some point. I'm going to lay that right on there. And then smooth it out with my hands. Once that was fully dry, I'm just going to take a I use my Cricut tool and just kind of slit the slit down the middle and then I'm just going to sand off the edges on both sides and then I'm going to do the same in the middle. I'm going to sand it but I am going to use a nail file to do that because it was such a tiny little area. It was easier to get in there with a nail file. So I'm just going to grab that nail file and then just get that center removed. Once that is all sanded I am going to take some of this spackling from Dollar Tree. I'm going to put it on a tray. It's kind of dry. So I'm going to add some white paint to it. So I'm just going to use some white chalk paint. I'm going to add that to it and then mix that all in. Um it not only does it help weten or moisten it again I should say. But it also helps to change the color to a brighter white. So I'm just going to mix that all the you don't want to add too much paint because you still want this to be on the thicker side so if it starts to thin out you want to add some more of the sparkling or more paint if it's too dry just kind of go back and forth but you want it like the consistency of almost like cream cheese so once I have that all mixed together I am going to use that and this stencil from Hobby Lobby so I have this snowflake stencil from Hobby Lobby I'm going to set that biggest snowflake in the center here I'm just going to lining it up and then I'm going to tape just one side of that down and I'm just going to use some blue painters tape to do so so I'm just going to put a little bit right on the edge here and making sure that that's centered then I'm going to use a palette knife to apply the sparkling to my stencil so I'm just going to make sure that it's laying flat grab some of that spackle on my palette knife and then rub it across the snowflake just making sure that I all around the edges. You can leave it so that it's not you don't have to fully scrape it on there. You can leave it so it's up a little bit you know then just make sure you have the full coverage. You want to go slow doing this so you don't pull up the sides of the stencil. Once you have it all on there and it's fully covered. You can just pick up the stencil while it's still wet. And peel it off. Once you have that all on there and picked up. I'm just going to take another palette knife and slide it through the center to get rid of that excess sparkling that went into the center of the sign. Just making sure I scrape all that off. And then I am going to take some glitter and I just used extra fine glitter. I got this at Walmart. And I'm just going to sprinkle that all over the snowflake while it's still wet. Next I'm going to take and add two smaller snowflakes to either side. So add this snowflake stencil from a long time ago. And again I'm just going to take my palette knife and add the spackle to this snowflake stencil again. On this side and then I'm going to repeat the process on the other side as well. And again I'm just going to take the other palette knife and slide it through the center to pull off some of that excess. And I'm going to repeat the same process over here. I used a stencil that matched the other side. So the same snowflake. And again just filling that in. Then I'm going to peel that up. Clean out the center. And I'm just wiping my palette knife off with a baby wipe. And then once I have both of those all scraped from the center I'm going to take some of that glitter and add that to it again on both sides. And I'm doing this while it's still wet. And look at how cute this is. I absolutely love it. Next I'm going to take a little bit of antique wax and go around the edges and I made sure I got the wood part on the sign with that and then kind of let it go a little bit over on the scrap of paper. I wasn't going crazy. I don't want this to be too rustic. And then once I have that all stained I am going to take these stickers. They're actually called thickers. I got these at Walmart I believe but I know Hobby Lobby and Joanne's have them. And I'm just going to peel off all the letters that I want. And I'm going to start by putting an exclamation point at the far right side. And then I'm going to work my way in. I'm going to add an R and then another R and then a B to spell out the word bur. And that is it. This project is finished. I think this turned out so super cute and I absolutely love it and it's perfect for all winter long. I hope you enjoy this project. I hope it inspires you to make one. Thank you so much for watching and as always don't forget to spread the chaos.
