Learning about family members, diverse families and describing one's own family is fun in this K-3 interactive notebook and game unit! These templates are excellent graphic organizers. Work with different flippables and foldables to introduce or review the vocabulary, and play a matching game with the word circles! This interactive notebook is available in a bundle of 5 - find it here! The purpose of interactive notebooks: To give students a visual approach and a graphic organization of new (and known) concepts. Interactive notebooks are great for reviewing themes, and for practice! Find all my other interactive notebooks here! Why are interactive notebooks beneficial? First and foremost because students have different styles of learning. Adapting to each student’s needs also means taking this into account. Having a visual style of learning entails thinking in images, and have more success with visual approaches such as mind maps, images, graphics, diagrams, movies and so on. How do I use the word circles? Each of the thematic interactive notebook units have a variety of different templates and tasks. One of the things I always include when I’m working with my students are word circles. They contain the vocabulary image and words associated with the topic, and are perfect for practice! We use them to write sentences (draw one, write about it), oral assignments (draw one and explain what it is without using the word) and to play games. Two of our favorite games are handing out all the circles to two or more students, and they have to ask for missing circles to collect pairs - without using the word - and memory of course! The number of ways to use them only stops with our imagination. In this unit you will find: ✔ 20 pages ✔ 1 sheet printed provides for 2 students (reduces waste) ✔ Teacher's guide with information & tips The vocabulary in this unit: grandparents, grandfather, grandmother (and versions of these), parents, mother, father (and versions of these) son, daughter, old, young, children, brother, sister, baby, cousin, aunt, uncle, wife, husband, stepmother, stepfather, stepson and stepdaughter. Add as many extra words as you like with the empty word circles.
