Diana Sands (Aug. 22, 1934 - Sept. 21, 1973) was an American dramatic actress, perhaps most famous for her portrayal of Sidney Poitier's sister in the 1961 film Raisin in the Sun. She starred in the original Broadway production of The Owl and the Pussycat (1964), and made numerous TV appearances in the 1960s & 1970s. She was set to star in the film Claudine (1974) with James Earl Jones, however, she was too ill to accept the role. She died of leiomyosarcoma (cancer of smooth muscle) at aged 39.

Juanita Moore (Oct. 19, 1914 – Jan. 1, 2014) was an American film, TV, & stage actress. She was the fifth African American to be nominated for an Academy Award in any category, and the third in the Supporting Actress category at a time when only a single African American had won an Oscar. Moore's portrayal of the broken-hearted housekeeper Annie Johnson whose daughter passes for white in Imitation of Life (1959) won her the nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
