This is totally normal first of all. It's nothing you did. It's just the natural cycle of the plant. This one also has a lot of wild roots. So that's going to be fun to get through. Whenever we have these crazy roots coming through the drainage holes. We always have to cut away the pots to try and salvage as much of the root system as we can. We want to be kind of gentle. Uh there's that wild one that's not able to come out and ah broke it there. Whoops that happens but you will some roots. It's just the nature of it in general. It's not too big of a deal. Just keep on. Don't worry about it too much. Of course sanitize your pruners before you get going. And we're going to get rid of all of the mushy and dead roots. Um every time we repot it's a good idea to remove all of these. Now any roots that are not firm. Those are the ones you're going to want to get rid of. They might feel papery thin. They might feel really mushy. If they are not firm that's when you want to get of them. And I'm going to cut the bloom stem off here as well because it is spent and it will only harden off into kind of like a stick and it's kind of ugly. So I'm using cocoa pea today. Now I will admit this is the first time I've ever used it. I've heard of people being successful with this mixture. I'm going to add in some extra drainage there with some leca. Um I do like to sanitize the roots as well with hydrogen peroxide solution. Didn't have an actual orchid pot so I just kind of made my own. Now what I like to do is flip the it over and put the medium right where all the roots meet the crown. Forms a nice little pocket in there and we want to make sure some medium gets in there so that when we water we're getting all of the roots. It's very easy to miss that if all you do is back fill. So be gentle put all of the roots inside the pot. Remember all those crazy aerial roots that we had earlier. It's perfectly fine to put them all in the pot. And then from here you're just going to back fill. When you're back filling make sure that you're tapping the sides of the pot to work all the medium down in between the roots. And don't plant it above the crown, okay? We don't want to go any higher than the lowest leaf. And that's how you're going to do it. Continue with proper care and you should see new blooms in three to 12 months on average.
