Slow dyeing means that natural dyeing an integrated part of my life: even on days when I’m too busy to do anything to advance my current projects, I know the dye pots are still there in the background, steeping, until I have time to work with them.

Studio PCL is the textile art practice of Phong Chi Lai. It is a dialogue between the maker, the hand and his natural environment. Social and environmental care has always underpinned his ethos as an artisan. Working intuitively, Phong uses natural dyes and reclaimed fibres and textiles to assemble and piece abstract and graphic art quilts and artifacts. All works are handmade in Melbourne.
