three wooden poles with hats on them and one is leaning against the wall in front of it

When you have as many hats as I do, you start running out of places to store them! Still, it is nice to have a few on display, even if it means you have to be wary of dust! I had seen simple wooden hat stands online and thought "I can make that!" and an idea for a DIY was born. I'm no woodworker, but I figured I could find the supplies for such a basic project at my local craft store. I needed a few screws from the garage too, and I asked my dad to help me so I could photograph the process…

By craft contributor Caitlin It seems like Western New York isn’t the only place getting piles of snow this year. The rest of the states have been getting a surprising amount of snow and I’m sure the amount of wet hats, gloves, scarves, coats, and boots has been a shock to some of those lucky […]

three giraffe print lollipops sitting on top of a kitchen counter

Hi Knitters, I've been wanting a hat stand for quite a while, but I have never been able to find one. So the other day I showed my Mom a picture in a book of what I was talking about and asked her if she thought we could come up with something similar. Of course, my Mom being the genius that she is, knew right away how to do it! So I thought you all might like to see how we made ours. It's nothing super fancy or anything-we used what we had around the house with the exception of the dowel…

two images of a hat on top of a white mannequin's head

Whenever I make something new, I make it a point to always take pictures of them for reference and for product photos. After several hat projects, I noticed that something was missing - I need a proper stand for all the hats and plushies I make! Hah, I know, this is a given for any (future) sellers. Since I'm almost mainly working on hats, I decided I should make my own hat stand first. Say hello to my brand new DIY Hat/Wig stand! I simply bought a large styro ball from National Bookstore…

a wooden stand with a round cushion on it's top that is made out of wood

Here's a quick & easy mod for anyone who has a pretty bit of head wear to display. It's perfect for steampunk top hats and aviator hoods, but would work equally well for any kind of hat - like, say, collectible Mickey ears. [grin] All you need is a pretty candlestick, half of a hard foam ball, a bit of padding, fabric, and long push pins (not shown - ignore those nail tacks there): The foam ball will sit on the top of your candlestick. It can hang over the edge, or you can get a size that…
