Sewing Patterns and tutorials | Carolina on Instagram: "This is my preferred way of adding elastic to the bottom of any sleeve! ✨ It gives the sleeves a high quality look and feel as well as making them comfortable to wear against the skin and more durable. You can play around with the dimensions of the tunnel width based on the width of the elastic used. This width is good for an elastic band that’s between 1-1.5 cm wide. Save this tutorial if you plan on sewing the featured top pattern when it’s released 😉🤞 . . . . . #sewing #sewistofinstagram #millenialsewing #isewmyownclothes #memade #sewingproject #imakemyclothes #sewingtutorial #sewingtips #sewingtipsandtricks"
Lari | Indie Sewing Pattern Designer on Instagram: "Sewists, here's a technique to sew your sleeves in without sewing a double gathering stitch. It's called crimping. But it only really works well on light weight fabrics, ask me how I know 😜🤣 . . . 🧷 Trendy PDF sewing patterns on Instagram: "Detachable cuffs are a trending accessory for your stylish outfits! 🔥 How about sewing them with us? Here’s what you’ll need: a piece of cotton fabric, Chantilly lace, four buttons, and fusible interfacing. Measure your wrist and add 4−6 cm (1 5/8−2 3/8”) for the cuff size. Cut out four rectangles (we used 10×19 cm [4×7 ½»] pieces, including the seam allowances). 1. Fuse the interfacing to the outer cuff pieces. 2. On the inner cuff pieces, press a 1 cm (3/8”) seam allowance along one long side. 3. Cut a strip of the main fabric on the bias, fold it in half, and stitch, creating “funnels” both at the beginning and end of the seam. 4. Trim the excess, turn the rouleau strap right side out, press, and cut into pieces to the desired size. Pla
Olivia Hayward ⚡️Slow Fashion on Instagram: "Hands up for hot pink silk balloon sleeves?! This thrifted bubblegum pink dupion or raw silk has lots of structure while staying-soft as silk- perfect for this floaty balloon sleeve top. A drapey fabric wont give you the same balloon (it will make a beautiful sleeve but without the “puff”) so think raw silk, taffeta, organza etc when you want to go big. This sleeve was just over a meter wide and around 22 inches deep. Details: 🩷When you stitch the side seams use a regular stitch length until you get to your desired notch (this is totally up to you- could be a couple inches just so the ribbons can be tied up or longer for a more dramatic opening). At the notch DON’T FORGET TO BACKTACK and then change to a longer stitch until you get to
Olivia Hayward ⚡️Slow Fashion on Instagram: "Thrifted Duvet Cover Upcycle To finish the sleeve if you want the puff- here I have pleated the bottom of the sleeve just to see what it looks like. This fabric is very thick and I think adding an elastic channel wouldn’t feel great to wear. So I plan to add a small cuff of bias binding and gather the bottom of the sleeve. Or I could figure out a way to stitch the pleats and maybe add binding onto the inside to reinforce. I’ll have a play around and report back. If your fabric is softer and more agreeable you’ve got a few options on how to finish these puffy sleeves! MAKE CLOTHES THAT FIT on Instagram: "If your sleeve curve is a bit longer than your armhole curve - you have a PERFECT sleeve pattern, it is supposed to be this way. There’s nothing wrong with it, you don’t need to change it - this is sleeve ease and it allows you to move. 1-2cm for non-stretchy fabric is a pretty standard ease. If you try to stretch the armhole by 2cm, you might struggle. But with crimping of the sleeve itself - they will be “gone”. It is the most simple & fastest way to fit a sleeve. Get that unfinished shirt from the back of your wardrobe and give it a go! You don’t need to gather under arm, only the top of the sleeve 👍 #crimping #sewingsleeves #sewingtricks #patterndrafting #sewing"

Lorenza Hallahan on Instagram: "How to NOT sew a curved hem 😂📍✂️🧵🪡 . Because followers asked why I didn’t do a standard hem on the circle sleeve. . Here’s what happens when you finish a circle sleeve like a regular hem. . You’ll hit a point on the circle where there’s too much fabric and nowhere for it to go. . Please note this is exaggerated to prove my point. I understand there are many ways to sew a hem like this but I’m trying to show what happens when you sew a curved hem like a regular hem. . If you want to see one way to sew a curved hem. Check out my reel ‘How to sew a curved hem’ 😃 (it’s right next to this one) . . .
