Here, I have shared a restaurant style recipe of Paneer Tikka Masala with bright flavors of the spiced and creamy onion-tomato curry/gravy/sauce and delightfully marinated grilled cottage cheese (paneer). While this dish may be considered a labor of love, the time and effort are well worth it!
Kashmiri Dum Aloo
If you thought that Kashmiri Pandits are not as serious about their food as other Kashmiris, you were wrong. Also, since most of the cuisine range for the Pandits of Kashmir is essentially vegetarian, you might think that the choice of dishes is not many or are limited when it comes to this cuisine. But again, this is not the case. The Kashmiri Dum Aloo is a proof of that. Another variant of baby potatoes slow-cooked in a gravy or sauce. This is spicy and made without onion and garlic too.

Here’s one of my personal favorite North Indian/Punjabi curry recipes that brings 2 amazing vegetarian ingredients together – methi (fresh fenugreek leaves) and paneer (Indian cottage cheese). Yes, this is the recipe of a delicious, restaurant style Methi Malai Paneer. It is a creamy, mildly sweet gravy with hints of bitterness from the fresh fenugreek or methi leaves. Serve it with roti, paratha, naan or steamed rice for a rich, satisfying meal.
Maa Ki Dal | Kali Dal | Black Gram Dal
Just like dal makhani, the Punjabi cuisine also boasts of another popular variety of curried lentils – the Maa Ki Dal or Black Gram Dal. At home, all my folks are fond of this Punjabi delicacy that is also referred to as Kali Dal. This delicious and creamy lentil dish is made with whole black gram (sabut urad dal), onions, tomatoes and the basic Indian spices. Makes for a comforting, filling and satisfying meal when served with phulka, roti, paratha or naan.
