I made this linocut after making the one in the previous post, where I used dots to form the clouds. This led me to research how artists historically have solved the problem of creating clouds- which are naturally soft and tonal with such a sharp graphic medium. After investigating multiple wood engravings from the 17th and 18th century and much trial and error, this is what I came up with. Viewed from a distance the clouds take form.
