CAS Mix Up Paper Piecing

Time for our April CAS Mix Up Challenge: Paper Piecing hosted by the very talented Linda (Life in the Craft Lane).  Be sure and check out the awesome cards by our Design Team and our talented Guest Designer Bonnie (Paper Crafter at large) too.

This challenge will give you the wonderful opportunity to use some of your treasured Designer Papers too😊

My card using Paper Piecing, Fussy Cutting, Heat Embossing, die cutting and Stamping.

I looked thru my treasured favorite Designer Papers after choosing this Impression Obsession F16363 Hydrangea flower stamp.  I found a 12" x 12" single sheet of Bohemia Designer Paper that I bought when our local stamp store went out of business several years ago.

I was pleased with the green and blue diagonal striped distress colors that worked out beautifully for the hydrangea.

I stamped the Impression Obsession flower image with Versafine black ink onto SU Whisper White 100# CS and heat embossed with SU Clear EB Powder.

Then stamped the Designer paper with the same image, ink and EB Powder and heat embossed.  Next I used SU  Papersnips to fussy cut the flower and stem.  Set aside and die cut the image layer with Memory Box Stitched Rectangle Die.

Next placed the image layer in MISTI and stamped the STAMPlorations "Life is Sweeter" sentiment designed by Dee using Archival Jet Black ink.  Attached fussy cut flower with Gina K Connect Glue.  Placed a large acrylic block over flower to secure it.

I then used a slightly larger MB Stitched Rectangle die on a leftover piece of the same Designer Paper to frame the main image.  Attached to main image and then to SU Whisper White 100# Card Base.

One last step...blue gems from my stash from Joanne's years ago.
I placed them in the center of each flower.  So simple and so pretty😊

Thank you Linda for such a fun easy challenge that I look forward to using again.  I have always liked fussy cutting and heat embossing.

We would love to have you join us.  You have until the 24th to play along.
Stay safe and Creative.  Love and Hugs..

CAS Mix Media Challenge: Splatters

Wishing you all a safe and Happy Creative New Year, dear friends.

Our very talented Hilary is hosting the Splatters Challenge.
Elaine (Craft-E-Place) has the honor of being our 1st Guest Designer for 2021!

We are excited to have two new Design Team very talented girls joining our CAS Family too!  Leslie (Running with Scissors) and Coni (Which Craft?)  Welcome girls,  you both will be fitting right into our creative wonderful family😀

We would love to have you join our amazing Design Team and Guest Designers in our First CAS Mixed Media Challenge.  Remember to make your cards Clean and Simple.

Stamping, Splatters and Heat Embossing.
I have been playing with a new to me product, Big Bold "Wishes Snowflake" stamp set from Colorado Craft Company.

I used my EB Buddy on the Strathmore Mixed Media Paper.  Then began by stamping off the edge of the large snowflake with Versamark Ink using MISTI. Heat embossed "Wow" Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder.

Then the fun splattering began using  Posca acrylic white pen.  I used my bone folder to tap the pen to make the splatters.  I used the brush end of the pen to make some of the splatters larger to give a snowy affect.

When dry used i-Crafter Blended Brushes,  which are like finger daubers,  but with a brush end.  They come 10 in a package and I think will last a life time.  So easy to use to sponge the edge of my image using Distress Oxide Vintage Photo ink and you do not need to press hard.

Next heat embossed with the "Wow" EB powder the sentiment from the same stamp set and attached to SU cardstock and trimmed.  Then layered onto SU Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Added SU Candy Dot and Done!

****************

Sharing a 2nd not as CAS card using the same Wishes Snowflake stamp.

I used the same techniques and supplies,  but did not trim down the card front.
Loved both cards and the color combo.

We would love to have you join our 1st 2021 CAS Mix Media Splatters Challenge.

Wishing you all a safe and creative New Year.  Love and Hugs..

Playing with Vellum for CAS Christmas Card Bell Challenge

Had fun making A Christmas Card with Vellum.
I am adding my card to two favorite CAS Challenges:

and

.

Here is my CAS Christmas Card using Bells that I stamped and heat embossed on Vellum.
I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and used 3 different Dies.

Close Up showing true Gold heat embossed colors.

I began by die cutting the SU 100# card front with Reverse Confetti "Lacy Scallop Frame".
Then die cut the window aperture using Memory Box "Stitched Circle" die.

Next die cut another circle with SU Vellum Cardstock and stamped and heat embossed
with SU Gold EB Powder the bells from SU "Bells and Boughs" (retired) stamp set.

Tip: Do not hold heat tool too close to vellum or it will curl &/Or melt!

Inlaid 1st die cut card front then attached stamped vellum using Connect Glue
behind heat embossed bells so glue would not show thru the vellum.
Die cut and glued on die cut circle frame layer.
Weighted down with large acrylic block.

Next used a tag die (?.gift from friend) and only die cut the center out of vellum
to use for the gold heat embossed sentiment from same stamp set.
Attached with Connect Glue and Done!

I was pleased to be able to share my card with both challenges.
Always great to add to my Christmas stash too.

Enjoy and Stay Safe and Creative my friends.
You still have until the 24th to play along in the CAS Challenges.  Hugs..

CAS Mix Up May Gesso Resist

I was excited to see that CAS Mix Up's May Challenge is Gesso Resist!
My Gesso has been neglected.
I used Gesso Resist, Stamping and Die Cutting.

Linda is hosting the Challenge and shared with us an inspiring list of
Gesso Resist video techniques.

I loved Susan's DT launch card and used her credit card Gesso Resist technique.
Check out her Cat's Ink.Corporated blog for more details.

****************

I am adding my CAS Christmas Tag Cards also to the
CAS Christmas Card May Challenge: Winter Berries. Hosted by Loll.
I was inspired by Loll's gorgeous card to use my Strathmore Tan Mixed Media paper!

Here are my cards...Enjoy!

I die cut 2 Strathmore Tan Mixed Media paper tags using CUTplorations
"Stitched Tags Nesting Dies".

Then used a palette knife to scoop out a bit of Gesso onto my glass mat and
used an old gift card to dip the narrow edge into the Gesso and
make swipes going different directions onto both tags.  Let dry.

Sponged Distress Oxide Inks: Candied Apple and Lucky Clover onto tags and sponged
Vintage Photo onto edge of tags.

Die cut Never Before Used SSS "Christmas Foliage Dies" and attached to tags with
Fine Tip Glue Pen.
Colored Winter berries with Zig pen.

Added SU "Merriest Wishes" sentiments and ribbon to both tags.
Popped up tags with white craft foam and attached to SU Whisper White 100#
cardbase and Done!

I loved the Gesso Resist Technique and how the Tan MM gave more muted colors.

Sharing larger photos of each card so you can see the Gesso better...Enjoy!

I used the same video technique that Jenny used on her beautifully textured card:-)

Here is my card using the Background Techniques by Teela Cunningham (9:29).
I made 5 backgrounds using different color combo's and
 techniques from the video!

I really liked the colors and textures in this background.
I used Cerumcoat Acrylics: Crimson, Fuchia, Opaque Yellow and White.

I added small drops of paints onto SU Whisper White CS and
used the flicking motion with a small piece of cardboard
to blend the colors.  Then let dry over night.

Die cut SSS Flowing Vine Collage out of Whisper White CS.
Then attached to acrylic background and attached both layers
to cardbase.  Stamped sentiment and Done!

CAS Mix Up February Stencil from Die-Cuts

Playing along with the CAS Mix Up February Stencil from Die-Cuts Challenge
Hosted by the very talented Joanna.
Be sure and check out the cards by the Design Team and
wonderfully creative Guest Designer, Ina (Little Bits of Craft).

My card using Stencil from Die-Cut, Stamping, Die-Cut Frame, Sponging DOX's.

A very easy card design using "SSS Flowing Vine Collage Die" that I used to Die-Cut
an A2 size piece of SU Whisper White CS.  Then placed the die-cut CS over another
A2 piece of SU Whisper White CS and used a make up brush to sponge and blend
Distress Oxide Inks thru the Die Cut Stencil.  Used Twisted Citron,
Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover Distress Oxides.

I removed Die-Cut Stencil and set aside.
Then outlined Die Cut image with 05 Art Pen, which helped the image pop!
Used MISTI and stamped the SSS Bouquet of Thanks sentiment.

Used Penny Black "Leaf Stitched Frames" to Die-Cut frame.
Added STAMPlorations Sequins and popped up with white craft foam.
Done...with my 1st card:-)

*****************

Here is photo of the card I made out of the die cut stencil so you can visualize
my technique,  which worked great!

I blended the background with a make up brush using Distress Oxide: Twisted Citron.
Stamped STAMPlorations "Bird of Paradise" sentiment.

Die cut frame and popped up card front onto Whisper White 100# card base.
Added stencils and Done.  Very QCAS (Quick CAS) card:-)

CAS Mix Up Partial Die Cut

I am playing in CAS Mix Up January "Partial Die Cut" Challenge
Hosted by the very talented Hideko.  Check out her clever shaker card and the
creative cards by the talented DT girls and Guest Designer,  Tristan (Tristan Designs).

Using Partial Die-cutting, Stamping and Dies and Brushos.

My 1st try at Partial Die-Cutting.
I watched all the videos provided by Hideko for ideas..a great help!

Creative Partial Die-cutting by Jennifer McGuire (12:00) 4:15-6:30
Easy Partial Die-cutting by Jennifer McGuire (22.26) 10:50-21:30
Top Cut Edge by Kristina Werner (6:36) 4:40-6:36
Partial Die-cutting by Splitcoaststampers (7:23) 0:00-2:40
Partial Die-cutting Tips by Jennifer McGuire (16:04) 0:00-4:15

Then started my design by stamping with my Altenew "Leaf Canopy" stamp onto A2 size of Strathmore Mixed Media paper.
Next used reconstituted Brushos to watercolor the leaves.

Then the fun part to use the "Leaf Canopy Die" and just partially die cut
the top half of the image by placing my cutting plate on the upper half
of image and putting thru my Big Shot.

Next I die cut my card front with Reverse Confetti
"Lacy Scallop Confetti Cut Die",  which I had to have after sweet
Hideko sent me a few die cut pieces:-)  We do enable each other!!

I attached my card front onto SU Black cardstock and added
dimensions behind the die cut leaves so the partial cuts
would show up better.  Then added the stamped sentiment from the
Leaf Canopy set and a few STAMPlorations "Shaker Blends" sequins.

Attached card front to SU Whisper White 100# card base,
added Wink of Stella to leaves and Done!

I LOVED the results and will be using the technique again. Thank you Hideko!

Here is a photo angle showing the popped up partial cut.

You still have until the 24th to play along.
Such a fun technique.  Hugs...

CAS Mix Up Challenge: Inchies

Joanna is hosting this wonderful CAS Mix Up Challenge: Inchies.
So many creative cards by the DT and GD Stephanie (my ink well).
Be sure and check out all the beautiful and clever creations.

Using Stamping, Inchies made from Washi Tape, Die Cut, Punch and Heat EB.

I had the bright idea to use a section of Altenew "Floral Flurries" Washi Tape that
Dolly shared with us at our May Retreat.  I chose the largest flower in the design and
fussy cut into 1 inch squares.

I was inspired by my dear friend, Hideko's  beautiful Inchies card.
I used her idea to punch SU Postage Stamp 1" squares to frame my squares.  I used SU
black cardstock,  which I glued to each square.

I then die cut the SU Whisper White 100# CS using Penny Black "Leaf Stitched Frames".
Placed card front in MISTI and stamped and heat embossed the PB "Special
Sentiment" with Versafine black ink and SU Clear EB Powder.

I popped up the inchies with White Craft Foam and arranged carefully onto the
die cut card front. Then attached to card base and Done!

************

I was so pleased with the result that I made a 2nd card using a smaller flower
from the Washi Tape and used different sentiment from the same sentiment set.

Loved this card too!  Thank you,  Dolly for your Washi Tape and Hideko
for the punch idea:-)

Hope you all get to play along with this really fun and creative challenge too.  Hugs..

CAS Mix Up August Challenge

I have been so inspired by the Paper Towel technique cards this month hosted by Loll!
All the DT, GD and Gallery samples are Gorgeous!
Be sure to check them out Here and Loll's Video.

I am also playing in the CAS Watercolour Challenge: Colorful Butterflies
hosted my Marcia!  More gorgeous cards by the DT and GD.

Using Paper Towel + Stamping + Die Cuts + Heat Embossing

I found this beautiful paper towel in my stash that I had used to mop up
Distress Oxide Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Tumbled Glass
and Mermaid Lagoon.

Then I remembered this beautiful sparkly die cut Memory Box butterfly
that I had in my stash that had the same alcohol ink color tones:-)

Die cut the card front with the largest rectangle SSS Postage Stamp Edge Frame
and then die cut the smallest frame, which is square.

Attached the paper towel over the die cut square using Connect Glue and die cut again.
It worked perfectly then inlaid the square and attached with scotch tape on back.

Placed card front in MISTI and stamped and heat embossed STAMPlorations Bloom
Happy sentiment and added blue and green rhinestones from my stash.

Next popped up card front onto card base with white craft foam.
Added colorful sparkly butterfly with dimensionals.
The butterfly solid wings was die cut out of a glittery Alcohol Ink Acetate background.

Next added a new STAMPlorations Clear Sticker:Hey Sunshine sentiment
and Done! I loved the results and how quickly my card went together.

CAS Mix Up August Challenge: Paper Towel Transfer

I have been a fan of Loll's Paper Towel Transfer Technique
and was so happy when she made a Video of the Technique.  I finally had
good luck following her tips:-)

Be sure and check out the creative cards by the DT and the GD Betty (created by bjk)

I began by using a paper towel that was saturated with yellow Distress Oxides that I
used multiple times to wipe up excess inks from my glass mat.
Again,  I used Loll's video for my technique.

I placed saturated paper towel over Strathmore Bristol paper and sprayed with water.
Next pressed with my fingers over wet paper towel to transfer inks.
It is so cool how the pattern from the paper towel shows up on the background.

Then I die cut the background when dry using my new Penny Black "Leaf
Stitched Frames" die.  Then placed in MISTI and covered
Magenta "Large Daisy" stamp with Distress Oxide "Carved Pumpkin" and
spritzed with water for a watercolor look.  I stamped a 2nd time for good coverage.

Set background aside to dry and stamped and heat embossed Pinefeather Press
"Ways to Say Thinking of You" sentiment.

Attached a Bristol paper layer that I had die cut with the frame die
and popped up the main image with White Craft Foam and Done!

Thank you Loll for your wonderful challenge and video:-)
You have until the 24th to play in this fun challenge.  Hugs..

CAS Mix Up Alcohol Ink Lift

Playing in Bonnie's awesome Alcohol Ink Lift challenge again:-)
There are video tutorials and gorgeous samples by the DT and GD!

Alcohol Ink Lift + Stamping + Die Cut

I was happy to find this beautiful Alcohol Ink background in my stash.
I used Rangers: Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange, Raspberry and Wild Plum inks.
Dropping inks onto Yupo paper and using Blending Solution to move the inks.

I die cut my piece with a SU Square die cut.
Placed in MISTI and inked Magenta C0705N Leaves with Alcohol Ink Lift.
Then stamped image in MISTI.  Let air dry and buffed with paper towel.
Repeated process 2 or 3 more times drying and buffing each time.

Loved how the paper towel lifted off the color from the leaf for a beautiful image.
Then stamped SSS sentiment in MISTI with Versafine black ink
and heat embossed with SU Clear EB powder.

Popped up image and sentiment with White Craft foam
attaching with gina k Connect Glue and attached to Gemund Woodland 110# CS.

Added sequins and Done!  Loved the Results:-)
