CAS Watercolour November Challenge: Text

I am so excited to announce that I am on Loll and Bonnie's new CAS Watercolour Card Challenge  Design Team along with the other new Design Team Members...Susan, Karen and Harriet. Congratulations girls.  We are going to have so much fun playing together :-)

Be sure and visit the CAS Watercolour Card November Challenge link  to check out all the team members beautiful and creative "Text" cards and visit their blogs to leave them some love:-)

The challenge for November is Clean and Simple Watercolouring and "Text" (other than a sentiment).

I knew I wanted to color with my Zig markers one of the flower images from the STAMPlorations "Color Blooms" coloring book because many of the pages already have "Text" among the flowers.  After coloring the images I trimmed my piece to 3" x 3",  splattered with black diluted acrylic paint and drew a faux sewing frame.  The magic really happened after I attached my piece to a scrap of mixed media paper and covered the piece with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I LOVE how it brightened the flowers and added shine to the entire main image.

I finished my card by using my MISTI to stamp my sentiment to a die cut card front of SU Whisper White Thick CS.  Then I Popped up my image using foam tape.  Added rhinestones for a bit of bling and Done!

My card is also for STAMPlorations Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge.

The new CAS Watercolour November Challenge ends on November 24th so you have plenty of time to play along.  I can't wait to see your beautiful CAS Watercolour Text creations.  Happy Stamping,..

STAMPlorations Color Blooms Blog Hop...again

I just had to make another STAMPlorations Color Blooms Blog Hop card with one of my scrap pieces from my Color Blooms Coloring Book.  I used my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers to color this piece.  Love the quality of coloring book paper.  It colors so easily with watercolors.

My CAS card is also for STAMPlorations September CAS Anything Goes: Optional Twist: Pink Challenge.

I had fun using my new (today) CUTplorations "Hugs" thin metal die from STAMPlorations :-)  Love using new toys,  don't you?!?  I also used my CUTplorations "Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die..I used the medium size for my border..I LOVE all 3 dies :-)

After coloring my flowers I attached my coloring book piece to a layer of SU Whisper White Thick CS and die cut the stitched frame.  Popped up at an angle and was done.  CAS and I think pretty card.
Enjoy....

My 3rd STAMPlorations Challenge..Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge.

STAMPlorations Color Blooms Blog Hop

Here is my Color Blooms card for the current STAMPlorations Color Blooms Blog Hop.

I  used part of the Dogwood Page that I had colored with my Zig markers on August 6th.  It was for the STAMPlorations Color Blooms Sampler Challenge.

Here is the link on my blog with the description of my sample for STAMPlorations Color Blooms Sampler Challenge.

I had so much fun coloring the printed copy of the Dogwood page that Shery shared with all those playing in the challenge that I ordered the Color Blooms Book...34 coloring pages of gorgeous flowers!

For my finished card I cut the sampler to size and attached to a piece of SU Basic Black CS.  I then popped up the layer onto SU Whisper White Thick CS.  I stamped the "Art Is" sentiment with Archival Jet Black ink onto Whisper White CS and attached to my card front.  Added "Wink of Stella" to my flower centers for a bit of bling.  That was it.  So quick and easy,  since my main image was already colored.

Enjoy and thank you again Shery for your creative and fun Color Blooms Book and fun Challenges.

Thank you for visiting and especially for your comments.  Hugs.....

CAS Mix Up August Reminder Card: Sprays

It is the 15th of August and time again for the CAS Mix UP Design Team to share our CMU August REMINDER Cards :-)

I used Stamping + Glimmer Sprays + Die Cuts and Zig marker watercoloring

I recently had my SU Hostess Club party and my hostess was sharing a really cute Owl stamp set and Die Cut.  I just had to stamp and die cut a few for future cards.  Could not wait long...within a couple of days I had made this really fun card.  My DH Denny LOVES owls,  so this card will be saved for him when he needs a...Lift!

I sprayed the die cut layer with retired SU Smooch Spritz over my Tim Holtz Faded Dots Stencil. Then popped up my watercolored with Zig markers owls,  which I had sprayed already with Shimmery Mist I had made using Frost White paint and alcohol.   Fussy cut the sentiment and popped it up.  That was it!  I quick cute card for my stash.

Click HERE to see the rest of the amazing cards from the Design Team and our Guest Designer Joanne.  You will be Inspired by their CAS designs using Mixed Media ;-)
We would love to have your join the fun!

You still have until August 24th at Midnight PDT to play in the Challenge.

Sunflower Stencil using Embossing Paste & Zigs

A very different and more traditionally colored TCW "Joyful Sunflower" Stencil Image :-)  Hope you do not mind all my cards using this awesome stencil?  It just keeps popping onto my desk :-)

My girlfriends Bonnie, Stamping with Klass and Loll, Stamping with Loll got me hooked on this beautiful and versatile stencil, especially after Bonnie gifted me my stencil.  I have since bought several for gifts :-)  Bonnie and Loll have many gorgeous samples on their blogs using this stencil.  I got the idea from Loll to use Embossing paste on my stencil and then watercolor while the paste is still wet.  I used my Zig watercolor markers to color my sunflower. Then I removed my stencil.  I am sharing a close up so you can really see the texture.

A couple of tips..use your palette knife to add your EB paste and to scrap off excess paste from stencil.  As soon as you finish watercoloring your image remove your stencil and soak in warm soapy water to remove remaining paste.

I will add a sentiment on the inside in the future when I send my card.  Here is my close up...

Card Recipe
Stamps: None
Paper: SU Whisper White Thick, Strathmore 100# Smooth Surface
Accessories: TCW "Joyful Sunflower" Stencil, Golden's Molding Paste, palette knife, Zig Markers, Craft mat

Enjoy and Thank you for Looking and especially Commenting.  Hugs...

CAS MIX UP August Challenge

It is time already for the next CAS Mix Up August Challenge Stamping + Sprays + Your Choice.   My Choice:  Stenciling with water and Modeling Paste, Markers and Die Cuts.

My card began with an ATC background I had in my background stash, which  I had used a swiping technique with Zig Marker brown tones onto Mixed Media paper and stamped with my Tim Holtz "Wild Flowers" stamp set using Archival Jet Black ink.

Now the fun finishing touches.  I  placed my Tim Holtz "Faded Dots" stencil over my piece, "Sprayed" with water and blotted with a paper towel to lift the color.  I  Die Cut my ATC with my Memory Box Stitched Rectangle and added a Sizzix Die Cut Wildflower for added dimension.

I wanted more interest in the background so I masked the center of my die cut white layer and placed my Faded Dot Stencil over the mask and covered areas of the stencil with my Golden's Modeling Paste.  Let dry and added my main image with dimensionals.  One last touch.. Washi tape stamped with the sentiment.. just for you!

I love the brown tones and dimension on my CAS Mix Up August Challenge...Hope you can play along too.  You have until August 24th to join in the fun!  Happy Stamping....

STAMPlorations July CAS Challenge Guest Designer

I am so excited about being chosen by Shery as one of the Guest Designer for STAMPlorations July CAS Challenge. The CAS Challenge is Shery's newest Challenge and one of my favorites :-)The CAS Challenge is always "Anything Goes" with a Color Twist and this month is the Color Orange!

Thank you again Shery for the opportunity to join your very talented Design Team as your Guest Designer.  It is a real honor.  Look how cool your Watermark looks with my card too !

Now for the Deets...I have been playing with the Paper Marbling Technique using my Adirondack Alcohol Inks.  I now have a stack of card fronts using different papers and colors.  I am sure you will see more cards in the future from me using this cool technique :-) Our very talented friend Karen Dunbrook aka k dunbrook on SCS last week hosted the TLC592 Challenge on SCS using the Paper Marbling Technique.

Be sure and check out the link to Karen's challenge for more Deets and Karen's Blog: Snippets.  The technique is also called by some "Floating Alcohol Ink Technique".  There are You Tube videos out there too.

Moving on....My background was one of my samples using 5 drops of Adirondack Sunset Orange into a shallow square bowl of water and quickly placing my piece of Yupo paper into water holding my paper with a forcep tool. Always remember...alcohol ink stains!  I then lifted my paper and quickly placed on a paper towel to dry.  I learned to change water and ink everytime for better results and that every type of paper and even alcohol inks give different results.  I tried rice paper, mixed media paper and thick white cardstock.  The thick white CS my least favorite.  Yupo my favorite.  But I liked the rice paper and mixed media almost equally as well.

I used Deepti's...one of STAMPlorations talented designers... stamp set "Blooming Buds" for my stamped flower and sentiment.  I love this set and ALL the sentiments.  It is so versatile for many occasions.  I stamped with Archival Jet Black using my MISTI and colored with my Zig Markers.  I blotted with a paper towel to dry the watercolor markers. I then attached the Yupo paper main image onto Whisper White Thick CS to give it more strength.  Then popped up with foam tape onto the SU Die Cut Square and attached that to SU Calypso Coral CS 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" card base.

Enjoy and hope you get to join the STAMPlorations CAS July Challenge too :-)

I am joining 2 more Challenges: STAMPlorations Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge

Penny Black Watercolored "Bejeweled"

This is my first card using my new Penny Black "Bejeweled" stamp.  I placed my stamp in my MISTI and then colored the stamp with my Zig Markers, spritzed with water lightly, closed my MISTI to stamp exactly where I wanted onto my Arches 140# Cold Press Paper.  I then took my aqua painter and lightly spread the watercolors on the image.  I added a few darker colors with Zig markers for more shading.  I loved the results.  I added pink splatters and then sponged the edges and around the flower image with distress inks.  A very easy one layer card.  I stamped my image 4 times with my MISTI to get great coverage.  Always a challenge on cold press paper.

Here are the Challenges I am entering.  Enjoy!
