Marcella Domonkos on Instagram: "One of our most important design decisions in this kitchen remodel was choosing the perfect material for the countertops. We are big fans of Taj Mahal and so is our client but I knew it wasn’t the right fit for this project. Here’s why: ⭐️ The cabinets are painted Accessible Beige and our stone backsplash is an ivory with brown and gray accent stone pieces throughout. While Taj is gorgeous, I was afraid the yellow and gold undertones would clash with the two main focal points. ⭐️ We partnered in Instone to help us find the perfect material that would not clash and also enhance the backsplash stone and cabinet tones. ⭐️ What we found was a silky, cloudy, ivory Dolomite that was the perfect milky white we needed! Hannah Joyce | Home Design & DIY on Instagram: "Using these huge tiles for my kitchen backsplash was one of the best cost saving design elements in my house. Slabs of stone can cost thousands, but with this method I used seven 24”x48” tiles costing under $500. They were installed on cement board like any other tile install, with 1/16 spacers so the grout lines are really small. I laid out the tiles beforehand to match up the pattern as close as possible. The outlet holes were cut with a 3” diamond tile blade, because the pieces are so big a regular blade could break the tile.
