Your entryway is the first thing you see when you enter your home, so it needs to be beautiful. It’s also the last thing you see when you run out the door, so it should also be stocked with your everyday “grab” items—shoes, hats, keys, purses and anything else you might need when leaving your space. But what if you have a tiny entryway, or even—dare we say it—no entryway at all?
Since I don't have much storage in my entryway, I converted my front room into a functional organized entryway with tons of DIYs. I refinished my old fireplace, added IKEA hacked built-in storage, DIY'd a coat rail, installed a custom walnut cabinet and made this space so much more modern with glam neutral finishes. Living in a small apartment with growing kids, I have come to the conclusion that a functioning entryway is one of the most critical elements to keeping my sanity. The closet by my front door is overflowing with jackets, raincoats, and accessories. It’s packed so tight, I can’t even reach into that closet to grab anything. Heaven forbid I should need to add anything else to the mix. I’ve got to find a solution to keep in-season outerwear at the ready, and a place to stash guest coats at a moment’s notice.
