On February 1st, the Thunderbolt EP will be released. This release will feature a haunting sound across several tracks, along with a number of original pieces unavailable on full-length albums. The EP will be supported by a tour across roughly thirty Russian cities, organized by Madstream Booking Agency. Sending a massive thanks to them for making this possible. Additionally, I’m preparing a wide range of T-shirts, CDs, and other merchandise in collaboration with Supersonic Merch. Make sure to check it out, as a lot of items in the store are already sold out and likely won’t be reprinted.
Now, more about the release. Like the upcoming album, the EP will focus on mythology—primarily vampire themes tied to the locales of St. Petersburg and the Russian North in an alternate historical setting of the early 20th century. Musically, the album draws heavy inspiration from Slayer, Type O Negative, and even Satyricon. The vibe of Mayhem and Emperor, however, will remain present, with a touch of dramatic melodies sprinkled in.
As for originality—over the nearly seven years that listeners have followed Second To Sun, one recurring question has been: what would the vocal parts sound like in my own performance? Gleb has been singing my vocal lines with his voice in all the songs. For this EP, I’ve decided to introduce a bold new element: the track Vasilisa will feature my vocals, giving Second To Sun fans a clear answer to that question. Anticipating another common question—yes, you can expect my vocals to appear in more tracks in the future. This is a significant and positive change for the band, offering something entirely new and unexpected.

Russian Post-Black Metal. Once again, another project I knew very little about! This is their latest album & what belter it is! Atmospheres so thick you cannot see through & some fantastic musicianship throughout. Love the vocals & their range - don't know if it is one person or more but... :) No favourites & I shall be looking into their discography in the future for sure... :) FFO Grima, Deafheaven & similar. Highly recommended!!! bmurator

Bayan has featured for a while in Grima's music, but I feel like it finally transcends its more textural role into become a fully-realized part of the melodic structure here. A strangely soothing, hopeful album. I hope they will tour the USA some day. vojev
