In 2020, Third Warrant Officer (3WO) Mohamed Fadeli’s life changed drastically after a motorbike accident left him unable to walk for over four months. His long recovery gave him not only time to heal but also a renewed purpose. Upon returning to duty at Transport Hub East as a Platoon Warrant, 3WO Fadeli took on an additional role as the Privately-Owned Vehicle (POV) (Motorcycle) Overall-in-Charge (OIC), overseeing motorcyclists who ride to and from camp daily. One of his first priorities was to revamp the safety checklist for riders entering camp, resulting in a remarkable 50% reduction in traffic incidents involving motorcyclists. He shared, “It’s a life we’re talking about—someone’s child, husband, or father. If we can prevent even one accident, it’s worth every effort.” Fellow POV(M) OIC, Second Warrant Officer (2WO) Aaron Pok, Head Forensics Support, Special Investigation Branch is also a Road Safety Ambassador with the Traffic Police. He conducts periodic inspections to check for illegal modifications on the motorcycles within their camp. He shared, “Unsafe modifications can lead to accidents and injuries, but early detection helps to prevent potentially serious incidents.” In recognition of our POV(M) OICs’ dedication to road safety, Our Army held the POV(M) OIC Appreciation Day on 30 May 2025, where Chief of Staff - General Staff, Brigadier-General (BG) Tan Cheng Kwee and Chief Transport Officer, Senior Lieutenant Colonel (SLTC) Quek Shi Jian presented the POV(M) OICs with certificates of appreciation. Road safety is a shared responsibility. Thank you to all our POV(M) OICs for your commitment to the safety and well-being of our servicemen. #AnythingButRegular #ReadyDecisiveRespected #ReliableEfficientProfessional Written by: PTE Tu Yang (Army News) Photos by: LCP Dylan Ong (Army News)

Back in April, Master Sergeant (MSG) Lim Zhao Wei Geeno made history as the first Singaporean to graduate from the rigorous 9 weeks Drill Sergeant Course at the United States Army Drill Sergeant Academy (USADSA), held at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. MSG Lim further distinguished himself by being the only member of his cohort to receive the United States Diplomatic Award—an honour presented to international students who achieve an outstanding academic average that exceeds the course standards. Reflecting on his achievement, MSG Lim said: “It was a humbling experience to represent the Singapore Army on such a prestigious platform. More than just a personal milestone, it was a proud moment for my unit and my country—demonstrating that our standards can stand alongside the very best.” He added: “This course taught me that true leadership is not merely about giving orders. It involves setting a positive example, earning trust, and inspiring others to rise to the challenge. The experience has deepened my sense of responsibility and sharpened my purpose—both as a soldier and as a trainer.” MSG Lim also expressed sincere gratitude to his family and colleagues, acknowledging that their unwavering support and encouragement gave him strength during the most challenging moments. Our Army congratulates MSG Lim on his outstanding success and for flying the Singapore flag high! #ReadyDecisiveRespected #AnythingButRegular #FlyingOurFlagHigh #ExcelThroughBasics Written by: LCP Adyson Tan (Army News) Photos by: Contributed by MSG Lim and HQ BMTC Media Team

Army60 - "From Cousins to Comrades” For Captain (CPT) Toh Ghee Ren, joining the Army wasn’t just a personal ambition — it was a commitment to a proud family tradition. Inspired by the stories of his father and cousins, all former Army officers, he signed on to chart his own course in service to the nation. Last year during Exercise Wallaby (XWB) 24, that legacy came full circle. As an Officer Commanding (OC) in the 11th Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence Battalion (11 C4I Bn), CPT Toh found himself deployed alongside his cousin and role model, LTC (NS) Toh Ghee Chuan, who was serving as Chief of Staff of the 2nd Singapore Infantry Brigade (2 SIB). “It was a rare and meaningful experience,” CPT Toh shared. “There was a deep sense of pride knowing we were contributing together.” LTC (NS) Toh, who continues to serve under the Reservist on Voluntary Extended Reserve Service (ROVERS) scheme, was himself once inspired by CPT Toh’s father. “Serving with my cousin added a special touch — one more story to share at family gatherings,” he said. This unique moment of family service across generations reflects more than tradition — it embodies the enduring spirit of Army60. A legacy of service, passed down with pride and purpose. #Army60 #AceSetsthePace #AnythingButRegular #ReadyDecisiveRespected Written by: LCP Ong Hong En (Army News) Photos by: LCP Ong Hong En (Army News), with contributions from CPT Toh

And remember, while you may have hung up your uniforms, you will always be part of our Army.” Our Army salutes our retirees for their dedicated and selfless service, and wishes them the very best in their future endeavours. #AnythingButRegular #ReadyDecisiveRespected #Army60 #SteadfastWeStand Written by: PTE Tu Yang (Army News) Photos by: LCP Dylan Ong (Army News) and 2 PDF Media Team

Last month, our Army sent a drone racing team to compete at the Military International Drone Racing Tournament (MIDRT) in New York, USA, where they soared to a 3rd place finish. Competing against four elite foreign military teams, our team of 10 First Person View (FPV) pilots — made up of NSFs, Regulars and one NSman — put their months of intense training to the test in a high-speed, high-pressure environment. Competitions such as the MIDRT allow us to benchmark our drone piloting skills in high-pressure, fast-paced scenarios that test the reflexes and decision-making – which are mission-critical skills for our pilots. Our FPV pilots also clinched Special Individual Awards, namely: • Top Active Duty Qualifier - Corporal First Class (CFC) (NS) Andrew Yap, HQ Army Intelligence • Top Sports Category Pilot - Third Sergeant (3SG) Justen Ong Jin Herng, HQ SWI • 3rd Military Pilot - CFC (NS) Andrew Yap, HQ Army Int • Top Crash Pilot - Master Sergeant (MSG) Azaharie Bin Shakirin, ADF • Top 16 Qualifiers - CFC (NS) Andrew Yap, HQ Army Intelligence, First Sergeant (1SG) Joson Che, ADF and MSG Dennis Liew, ADF We thank them for their dedication and for flying our flag high! #ReadyDecisiveRespected #AnythingButRegular #FirstLineofDefence #AlwaysReady Written and Photos by: Drone Army Racing Team
