The unhinged prog duo Hatzatz exercise every muscle imaginable on this hypnotic journey of an album, taking the ‘drums and bass’ formula from the sweaty rehearsal room into the deep depths of space. A soundscape of layered drones and dub-production mannerisms has the band taking from the past and performing in a forward looking and inspired fashion, succesfully keeping repetitive progressions fresh and often surprising with creative sidetracks and free improvised moments. Energetic as it is, the experience is so immersive and finely paced that it feels like an ‘eyes closed’ listen is a must.
