From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Honorary Academy Award)

The Academy Honorary Award is given every year by the Board of Governors[broken anchor] of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).

The award honors motion picture achievements that are not covered by existing Academy Awards, although past winners of competitive Academy Awards are not excluded from receiving the Honorary Award.[1][2]

It is given at the discretion of the Board of Governors[broken anchor] and is not necessarily given every year, although the last year it was not given before 2008 was 1987.
