Context Clue Weekly Routine for Upper Elementary
Context clues are so much easier to teach with this weekly warm-up routine. At the start of each ELA block we spend just a few minutes with our context clue of the week activity. During the week students will be exposed to a new vocabulary word and a paragraph with that word in context... Students will get to make predictions, use the dictionary, come up with synonyms and antonyms and use the word in a sentence. It's such a quick and effective routine for building vocabulary.

Reading Comprehension Bookmarks
These little reading bookmarks are such a great student resource. I love giving them to students after I have taught them a specific reading strategy or skill. Students can use them during independent reading or take them home as part of their homework. On the front students are given an overview of each reading skill or strategy and the back includes thinking stems and question stems to help students apply the reading skills to their own books.
