Un album qui, bien que faisant partie de la grande famille du metal, est bien difficile à catégoriser. D'ailleurs, pour quoi faire ? So hideous réalise tout simplement un coup de maître en affichant une personnalité tellement forte que l'on pourrait croire à l'apparition d'un nouveau style, du moins une nouvelle branche dans l'arborescence infinie des musiques de metal extreme. Bref, un album qui est déjà une référence !

Dans Fullmetal Alchemist, Roy Mustang est un militaire émérite, capable de déclencher des explosions de nulle part en manipulant l'oxygène — le feu est naturellement présent dans l'air. Mais ça, ce n'est que de la fiction, pas vrai ? Pas quand on s'appelle Astronoid. Air, premier album du quintette américain, est rempli de paradoxes. Le chant clair, qui se joue de la différence entre le masculin et le féminin, est doux comme la brise ; les mélodies, expansives, enthousiastes, balayent tout !

That's no coincidence: Mgła is an elite act, with an extraordinary ability to craft melodies that are heavy yet never overbearing, and always addictive. Playback value never seems to fade, and there's not a weak track on the album. An exceptional black metal release that has stood the test of time and will continue to do so. 10/10.
