Latest SolarHam News Updates Solar Eclipse August 12, 2026 @ 20:15 UTC A partial solar eclipse was visible on Wednesday for parts of North America, including here in Cornwall, Ontario. The photo below showing the moon partially covering the Sun was captured directly from my cellphone thanks to some cloud cover. For lucky viewers in other parts of the world including Iceland and Spain, the moon completely blocked the solar disk leaving only the outer corona visible. This brings back memories of the total solar eclipse here in North America back on April 8, 2024. Space Weather Update / Weak CME Passage August 11, 2026 @ 19:10 UTC (UPDATED) Below is an updated look at three sunspot regions currently located in the northeast quadrant. AR 4507 and 4508 were both assigned today and 4507 was the source of a minor C1.8 flare at 18:07 UTC (Aug 11). The region (4507) appears to be slowly developing and will be monitored. At the time of this update, a minor (G1) geomagnetic storm watch remains in effect.
