There is a sky. There are things in the sky. This program draws maps of things in the sky. Starchart can currently create maps in Postscript, ASCII and PNG.

Developed between 1992 and 1999, this is a very early simulation of how the stars of our solar neighborhood may look from different perspectives in the Milky Way. The user may position the starship at one of hundreds of objects in the database or enter the position using galactic coordinates. Navigate by destination or course using one of a multiple of "warp speed" selections available. Viewers: Select from Forward view or Tactical view. Flight and arrival times are given for various speeds when a destination is selected. Status bar shows stardate, course, speed, and galactic coordinates in real time. Able to play background starship sounds or music mod files enduring the long journey! Currently only available on the Amiga platform, but is actively being ported to Windows at this time. De app toont de gebeurtenissen aan de sterrenhemel onder andere in de vorm van een astrokalender, de tab "Vannacht aan de hemel" met inforatie over Zon, Maan planeten en deepsky-objecten, een hemelkaart, een maanfasekalender, waarneemweer en meer. SterHemel is de app van hemel.waarnemen.com en net als de website is de app gratis en zonder reclame. De inhoud bestaat uit een selectie van de belangrijkste webpagina's van hemel.waarnemen.com, geoptimaliseerd voor het schermformaat van een telefoon. Voor een tablet geniet het gebruik van een webbrowser de voorkeur.

Astronomical Image Processing

The TLELib is the C++ library, which allows to read and write the TLE files very easy. It provides 2 main objects: tlelib::Node - object, operating with NORAD two lines elements data. It allows to parse the data from 2 or 3 lines and to output the data into strings in according to the TLE format. tlelib::Stream - stream, allowing to read the TLE data from some object of iostream type, and to write the data in TLE format into such object.

Simon Newcomb published his theory, known as Tables of the Sun, in 1898. It was used by the American Ephemeris and the Astronomical Almanac into the 1980's to compute the daily positions of the Sun. This Theory is a semi-analytic model which expresses quantities as a trigonometric series with numerical coefficients. This type of model produces a compact computer function which has enough accuracy to be useful to most users. My goal is to create a model using C which will reproduce exactly the results published in the Astronomical Almanac for the years 1981, 1982 and 1983.

Nowadays the idea of a music of the spheres, or a cosmic music that descends from the planets seems more like poetic philosophy than anything scientific. However, when the scientist Kepler discovered special principles about planetary motion, he also reconsidered the music. Apparently his observance of a harmonic law of planetary motion was reason for him to propose a computable system of pitch and harmony deriving from angular velocity. The purpose of the programming project is as a tool to examine his system. With Java 2, it provides an open-source solution for listening to harmonies so generated by planetary motion.
