GhostText
Use your text editor to write in your browser
Whenever you’re writing more than a little snippet of code anywhere on the web, activate GhostText to open your preferred text editor and enjoy your own development environment. GhostText is a browser extension that connects to your editor via its own extension. Install both extensions and, if necessary, start the GhostText server in the editor’s extension. Most editor extensions are authored by third parties. You can create more extensions for your favorite editor! Refer to the protocol document. Once you have installed both browser and editor extensions, you can activate GhostText in the current browser tab by clicking its icon in the toolbar or by using a keyboard shortcut. The editor needs to be launched first. In some editors you’ll need to run the Enable GhostText command to start the server. Refer to the documentation of each extension. Sublime Text doesn’t need this step. -

The end-to-end tests (E2E) test the full app in a headless Chromium browser. They spawn real IPFS node for HTTP API and a static HTTP server to serve the app. The purpose of those tests is not being comprehensible, but act as a quick regression and integration suite. -

Lighthouse can be integrated directly into the Chrome DevTools with its own panel. To run it, you would simply have to select the Lighthouse panel and click on "Generate report". It can also be run from the command line, or as a Node module. -

So stop right now and go read something about feature detecting instead. I'm serious. Go away. You'll thank me later. There is always an exception to the rule. There are valid reasons to do browser sniffing: to improve the user experience or to gather intelligence about which browsers are used on your website. My website is html5test.com and I wanted to know which score belongs to which browser. To do that you need a browser sniffing library. Almost all browsers say they are Netscape 5 and almost all WebKit browsers say they are based on Gecko. Even Internet Explorer 11 now no longer claims to be IE at all, but instead, an unnamed browser that is like Gecko. And it gets worse. That is why it is complicated. -

galacteek is a multi-platform Qt5-based browser and semantic agent for the distributed web. Be sure to install all the gstreamer packages on your system to be able to use the mediaplayer. After opening/mounting the DMG image, hold Control and click on the galacteek icon, and select Open and accept. You probably need to allow the system to install applications from anywhere in the security settings. Docker images are available. They run the full GUI inside a virtual Xorg server (using Xvfb). A VNC server runs on TCP port 5900 of the container, just use a regular VNC client to access the interface. The password to access the VNC service is printed to the console when starting the container. -

googler is a power tool to Google (web, news, videos and site search) from the command line. It shows the title, URL and abstract for each result, which can be directly opened in a browser from the terminal. Results are fetched in pages (with page navigation). Supports sequential searches in a single googler instance. googler was initially written to cater to headless servers without X. You can integrate it with a text-based browser. webpack-dev-server can be used to quickly develop an application. Options that are compatible with webpack-dev-middleware have a key icon next to them. Choices.js is a lightweight, configurable select box/text input plugin. Similar to Select2 and Selectize but without the jQuery dependency. Choices is compiled using Babel targeting browsers with more than 1% of global usage and expecting that features listed below are available or polyfilled in the browser. You may see exact list of target browsers by running npx browserslist within this repository folder. If you need to support a browser that does not have one of the features listed below, I suggest including a polyfill from the very good polyfill.io. Events fired by Choices behave the same as standard events. No jQuery dependency, configurable sorting, flexible styling, fast search/filtering, clean API, right-to-left support, custom templates.
