FreeCAD is a general purpose feature-based, parametric 3D modeler for CAD, MCAD, CAx, CAE and PLM, aimed directly at mechanical engineering and product design but also fits a wider range of uses in engineering, such as architecture or other engineering specialties. It is 100% Open Source and extremely modular, allowing for very advanced extension and customization. FreeCAD is based on OpenCasCade, a powerful geometry kernel, features an Open Inventor-compliant 3D scene representation model provided by the Coin 3D library, and a broad Python API. The interface is built with Qt. FreeCAD runs exactly the same way on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux platforms.

ThanCad is a 2dimensional cad, with limited 3d support and raster inclusion capability and emphasis in engineering. It is being written in Python and since it uses the Tkinter library, it is platform independent.

A robotic DIY styrofoam cutter consisting of one rotational and two translational axes. It cuts a variety of shapes out of styrofoam-like materials using a hot wire. CompassCAD is a simple, light, yet minimalist 2D-only CAD software. It lowers the barriers for novice CAD users to learn about CAD and sketch their very own design from scratch, and ensures everyone can try CAD. If applicable, it could also be used as a professional software with features such as collaboration (up to 2 persons, more will be added later on), SVG exporting, ready to be printed and shared with your co-workers. CompassCAD has a very small project size bundled in a single file, so your file is ready for distribution without breaking any of your favorite messaging app's file limit.

Andrafting is an open source Android application to create Technical Drawing exercises. This application is inspired by the 'Classical Construction', also known as 'Ruler-and-compass Construction' or 'Compass-and-straightedge construction'. However, another drawing tools can be used. This plugin enable unsupported functionalities for Autodesk Inventor 2014 and above. Autodesk doesn't support Autorun macros for VBA projects anymore, but with this plugin it is still possible to use the commands "AutoOpen", "AutoEdit", "AutoSave", "AutoClose" and "AutoNew" subroutines stored within "Thisdocument" module.

dedalo is a 2d cad drawing software written in python3. It is licensed under the GPLv3. Dedalo features: layers, snaps (endpoint, intersection, midpoint), line, polyline, rectangle, delete, polygon, rectangle, arc, circle, points, text, spline, freehand drawing. Move, scale, rotate, offset, cut, extend, hatch, dimension, copy. English, italian languages SVG read-write. Not all features all fully supported. Shoe design software. Based on foot measurements or a foot scan. Generates a bone based or a last based model. Supports different styles of shoes. Pattern editor for the upper. Calculates flattening of the design.

QCAD is an application for computer aided drafting (CAD) in two dimensions (2D). With QCAD you can create technical drawings such as plans for buildings, interiors, mechanical parts or schematics and diagrams. QCAD works on Windows, Mac OS X and many Linux and Unix Systems.

Line-drawing and polygon-filling rasterization algorithms in Java. Simple 2D package and more complex 3D package with Z-buffering. Texture mapping not supported at the moment. Color interpolation for lines, Gouraud shading for polygons fully supported. Floating point vertex coordinates, not integer. Pixel-level aliasing, not endpoint aliasing. Doesn't use Bresenham line style! Works with all Java versions. No external dependencies. Suitable for study in academic institutions, especially as related to line-drawing accuracy. Particular attention to detail concerning chopping of accumulation errors, using a cast from 64 bit to 32 bit strategy, in the interval [1.0,2.0). Individual pixel errors with overlapping polygons or line segments are about one in a billion, but I can't reproduce any errors at the moment by using random number generation with tens of millions of cases. Emphasis not only on correctness, but also on performance for real-world use or hardware implementation.
