Open Source C++ CNC Software for Windows

A Windows only 2.5D CAD CAM application. The user experience tightly integrates the CAM aspects when doing design and layout. The target users will layout their design and then immediately generate CNC code. The goal is a design application closer to Adobe Illustrator than to AutoCAD. The user specifies machining aspects during object creation so that when the design/layout phase is completed the toolpath generation can occur automatically. What is 2.5D? Objects created are flat (2D) but have a depth component. So you can create a square that will be machined at a specific depth but the depth will be constant accross the square. It is not/does not: A general purpose CAD (AutoCAD) type program. Support reference dimension on the drawing. Export or import major CAD file formats.

A robotic DIY styrofoam cutter consisting of one rotational and two translational axes. It cuts a variety of shapes out of styrofoam-like materials using a hot wire. CamelCAM will allow the user (in time, when/if fully functional) to load CAD 3D geometry objects from DXF, IGES and possibly other file formats, choose a particular CNC machine model, set needed parameters and then generate an ISO program suited for that CNC machine, capable of milling/lathing the selected piece.

A 3D only CAD/CAM program for generating CNC code from existing models. The focus is on importing an existing 3D model (STL files) and providing basic manipulation capability, like rotation, scaling, etc. It does not support building 3D models from scratch. GCode and Shoptbot toolpaths are generated from the model. Multithreaded. This is a standalone companion product to the Techne (R) CAD/CAM project.
