En ces circonstances, la méthode PECS (acronyme anglais pour Système de Communication par Echange d’Images) est souvent utilisée. Cette méthode accélère l'acquisition du langage parlé par l’utilisation, lors des échanges, de cartes de communications, qui sont composées d’un mot et d’une image, et qui fournissent à l'enfant un moyen de communiquer autre que la parole. Cette application s’inspire donc de ce système et a pour but de permettre la création et la gestion de cartes de communication sur ordinateur. Cela permet de créer et d'imprimer toutes ses cartes dans un même format et d'organiser sa collection efficacement.
