Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot image that securely wipes hard disk drives (HDDs). DBAN is appropriate for personal use, bulk data destruction, or emergency data destruction for HDDs, but is not recommended for solid-state drives (SSDs), sanitization that requires auditable compliance documentation, or technical support.

This project serves as a collection of different free software projects that I'm working on. The major ones are currently "HFSExplorer", "DMGExtractor", and "NTFS-3G for Mac OS X".

Ext2Read is an explorer like utility to explore ext2/ext3/ext4 files. It now supports LVM2 and EXT4 extents. It can be used to view and copy files and folders. It can recursively copy entire folders. It can also be used to view and copy disk and file

The Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 Filesystem Utilities (e2fsprogs) contain all of the standard utilities for creating, fixing, configuring , and debugging ext2, ext3, and ext4 filesystems.

Open-source tool to access Amazon S3 file storage. S3cmd is a free command line tool and client for uploading, retrieving and managing data in Amazon S3 and other cloud storage service providers that use the S3 protocol, such as Google Cloud Storage. Lots of features and options have been added to s3cmd since its very first release in 2008.... we recently counted more than 60 command line options, including multipart uploads, encryption, incremental backup, s3 sync, ACL and Metadata management, S3 bucket size, bucket policies, and more!

Extundelete is a utility to undelete files from an ext3 or ext4 partition.

CDemu - a virtual CD/DVD drive for Linux. Project includes Linux kernel module & userspace utilities.

AVFS is a system, which enables all programs to look inside gzip, tar, zip, etc. files or view remote (ftp, http, dav, etc.) files, without recompiling the programs.

httpfs depends on FUSE. It uses HTTP/1.1 extensions to read arbitrary bytes from a file on a web-server. This is particular interesting for an iso, since it can be investigated (loop device) without actually downloading the whole iso.

Portable, fully-threaded I/O benchmark program

The Digital Forensic Tool Testing (DFTT) project creates test images for digital forensic acquisition and analysis tools. These images can be used by a tool developers and owners to test their software.

Openfiler is a browser-based network storage management utility. Linux-powered, Openfiler delivers file-based Network Attached Storage (NAS) and block-based SAN in a single framework. It supports CIFS, NFS, HTTP/DAV, FTP, and iSCSI.

BackupPC is a high-performance, enterprise-grade backup system for backing up Linux, WinXX PCs, Macs and laptops to a server's disk. Features include clever pooling of identical files, no client-side software, and a powerful Apache/CGI user interface.

FATSort is a small utilitiy for Linux that sorts directory structures of FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 and exFAT file systems. It is written in C and can be run from the command line.

CurlFtpFS is a filesystem for acessing ftp hosts based on FUSE and libcurl. Automatically reconnects if the server times out.

WipeFreeSpace is a program to securely erase/wipe/overwrite/shred the free space on file systems WITHOUT DESTROYING EXISTING FILES, to prevent recovery of deleted sensitive data. This allows protecting the user's privacy when e.g. selling the drive or the whole computer. The following filesystems are supported: - Ext2/3/4, - NTFS, - XFS, - ReiserFSv3/4, - FAT12/16/32, - MinixFS1/2, - JFS, - HFS/HFS+, - OCFS. The following wiping methods are supported: Gutmann-like, random, Schneier, DoD. Additionally, WipeFreeSpace can finalize wiping the filesystem by writing blocks of zeros, which is friendly for sparse files, virtual systems and other places where zeroed-out space is not physically allocated. To prevent clear-text data from being left on the drive in the first place, you can use LibSecRm (https://libsecrm.sourceforge.io), which wipes the data on-the-fly.

romfs is a read-only, space-efficient linux filesystem, and this is a place for test kernel patches, and user space tools to manage filesystems in this format.

phpFileManager is a complete filesystem management tool on a single file. A server administration tool using PHP, meant for rapid file access, and also to verify the server configuration and security. The script can be renamed and deployed on an unique known url, and offers password protection.. All dependencies, like images, js and css files, are included inside the same file, so that the script can run even on offline devices, like a local Raspberry Pi, or ESP32 microcontroller. The size of the script is bellow 1Mb, and i want to make it even smaller. To conclude, this script is also a repository of several hand made functions, organized in sections, meant for learning PHP and explore all PHP capabilities. The Sleuth Kit is a C++ library and collection of open source file system forensics tools that allow you to, among other things, view allocated and deleted data from NTFS, FAT, FFS, EXT2, Ext3, HFS+, and ISO9660 images.

safecopy is a data recovery tool which tries to extract as much data as possible from a problematic (i.e. damaged sectors) source - like floppy drives, harddisk partitions, CDs, tape devices, ..., where other tools like dd would fail doe to I/O errors.

The Xbox Linux Project aims to privide a version of GNU/Linux for the Xbox, so that it can be used as an ordinary computer. Linux should make use of all Xbox hardware and allow to install and run software from standard i386 Linux distributions.

IMG4DC is a tools package containing two utilities to generate selfboot disc images for your Sega Dreamcast: cdi4dc, designed to make Padus DiscJuggler (CDI) images and mds4dc, designed to make Alcohol 120% (MDS/MDF) images. A selfboot image is a disc image format specially prepared to boot on your Dreamcast. In clear, by burning a selfboot image to a standard blank CD-R, the software containted into this disc image will run onto your Dreamcast, as a legit game disc, without any modchip or other hacking device. To use this software package, you must have mkisofs from the cdrtools project. This tool will create the ISO image needed by img4dc. File Master is created to assist you when handling many files at one time. File Master can for example rename many files at once, or zip them for storage.

Developer mailing lists will still be kept at Sourceforge. ---- OWFS -- 1-Wire file system. Use the Dallas 1-Wire and iButton chips with standard filesystem commands. Create temperature loggers. Monitor everything. OWHTTPD -- same system, only used as a light weight web server. OWFS is also ported to embedded routers, Mac OSX and Windows. Basically you can use these inexpensive little sensors and other chips with very simple wiring to sense and control the physical environment. The interface is very flexible -- everything from a web browser, to read and writing directly to the chip's "file" to integrating with your programs -- even over the internet.
